It is the first thing worth knowing before arguing about figures. Analytics tools that load an external script run into two filters: ad blockers, which cut them off entirely, and the cookie banner, because whoever does not accept does not get counted.

The result is a panel showing fewer people than there were, with no way of knowing how many fewer. Decisions get taken (which content works, where the good traffic comes from) on a sample trimmed by criteria you do not control.

About licensing and the GPL

The code is distributed under the GPL licence and its use is free. Updates, support and activation against the developer's servers are separate services contracted with them. They are not the same thing, and buying one is not buying the other.
