About Mailpoet Premium – Better Email WordPress Plugin
A mailing list that doesn't depend on anyone's algorithm
You post on social media and your reach drops every month. You write a great article and only people passing by see it. Your subscriber list is one of the few audiences that truly belongs to you, but building one usually means another tool, another account, images uploaded to someone else's service and contacts copied by hand between systems. MailPoet Premium brings all of that into the WordPress dashboard.
And there is a truth almost nobody tells you when you start with email: a big list is worth little if half of it never opens anything. What brings visits is sending the right thing to people who still read you. That is why this plugin matters more for how it organizes subscribers than for its email editor.
What MailPoet Premium does inside your dashboard
It is an email marketing plugin that integrates with WordPress. These are the features that matter:
- Newsletters with templates: you pick a template, customize it with the drag-and-drop editor and see a preview before sending. Images come straight from your media library.
- New post notifications: the plugin can automatically send an email with your latest posts every day, week or month, to bring readers back.
- Welcome emails: an automatic series for people who have just subscribed, instead of leaving them without a reply.
- Signup forms: to capture contacts from your own website.
- Lists and segmentation: you can work with WordPress users, WooCommerce customers and inactive subscribers as separate groups.
What to be clear about beforehand
This is the premium add-on and it works on top of the free version of MailPoet, which you must install first. Abandoned cart, first purchase, or purchased-product and category emails only make sense if you use WooCommerce. Also, whether an email reaches the inbox depends on the sending method you set up (the plugin offers its own infrastructure and an SMTP option), not only on the design of the message. If you are going to write to people, they need to have subscribed willingly.
Questions people ask when they install it for the first time
Can I use it without an online store?
Yes. Newsletters, new post notifications, forms and welcome emails do not require WooCommerce. What does require it are the purchase automations.
Do I need to know design?
No. You start from a template and change text, images and style from the editor, without touching code.
Do I have to upload images to another service?
No, you take them from your WordPress media library.
Does it work for a blog with lots of posts?
Yes, it is one of its clearest use cases: automatic latest post notifications save you from building every newsletter by hand.
WooCommerce emails your store should already be sending
If you sell with WooCommerce, MailPoet Premium adds automatic emails based on what the customer did: reminding about an abandoned cart, thanking for a first purchase, or writing to people who bought a specific product or category. It also lets you customize the look of the store's emails. The advantage is that the customer is already in your database, so there is nothing to sync with an external service.
What you should not expect is for these automations to sell on their own: an abandoned cart email with a generic message gets ignored like any other. Review the text and the offer, not just the design.
Start with the form and the welcome email, not the newsletter
The most profitable order for getting started is this: first a visible signup form on your website, then an automatic welcome email and, only after that, your first newsletter. That way every new subscriber receives something from day one and your list grows with people who already know who you are.
Once the list has some history, segment it: separate those who still open your emails from the inactive ones and don't send them the same thing. Before launching anything, send yourself a test and check it on mobile and desktop.
