About MainWP Domain Monitor Extension

When the domain expires, the client calls you

A site can be flawless, with backups done and plugins up to date, and still go down on a Tuesday because nobody renewed the domain. WordPress does not know when the domain expires, and the registrar's reminder usually goes to a mailbox nobody at the client's company reads anymore. When the website disappears, the client does not think of the registrar: they think of whoever maintains it.

MainWP Domain Monitor Extension is an extension for those who already manage their sites from MainWP Dashboard. It checks the domain data of the connected sites and emails you when one nears its expiration date, before the client notices.

Checking your whole domain portfolio without opening each website

Step 1: you start from sites that are already connected

The extension works on the sites you have in your MainWP Dashboard. It does not work on its own, and it is no use for monitoring domains that are not connected to your dashboard.

Step 2: you run the check

From a single screen you verify all domains at once, or you schedule the checks to run by themselves every day, every week or every month.

Step 3: you read each domain's record

You see the registrar, the WHOIS server, the contact details, the name servers, the domain status and the expiration date. It is useful when you inherit a client and do not know where their domain is registered or whom to ask for access.

Step 4: you tune the alert

The alert email is customizable and arrives when a domain nears its expiration date. Mind the expectation: the extension alerts, it does not renew. Renewal is still done at the registrar or by whoever holds the domain in their name.

Step 5: you show the client the status

You can generate reports on the status of the domains and share them with the client. It is a simple way to show that someone is watching something the client takes for granted.

Questions before adding Domain Monitor to your dashboard

Does it work without MainWP Dashboard?

No. It is an extension of the MainWP ecosystem and needs the Dashboard with the sites connected.

Does it renew the domain for me?

No. It informs you of the expiration and the domain data, but you renew wherever the domain is registered.

How often does it check the domains?

You decide: you can schedule the checks daily, weekly or monthly.

Can it be automated outside the dashboard?

Yes, it integrates with WP CLI and the MainWP REST API, so you can run checks from your own workflows.

Reports and automation in MainWP Domain Monitor Extension

Beyond the alert, the value is that domain control no longer depends on someone's memory. With scheduled checks and the WP CLI and REST API integration, you can fold it into your monthly maintenance routines and the reports you already send.

If you only manage one or two sites, a calendar reminder is probably enough.
