About myCred Notifications Plus
A point earned that nobody sees changes nobody's behavior
You set up a program of points, ranks and badges and users keep acting the same as before. Often the reason is simple: the system adds up points silently and users only find out if they open their profile to check. A reward that isn't felt at the moment it is earned barely reinforces anything.
myCred Notifications Plus is a myCred add-on that puts that alert in front of the user: a popup notification when they gain or lose points, move up or down a rank, or earn a badge. It is meant for anyone already running a points program with myCred who wants the system to be truly noticeable.
A different color for gaining points and for losing them
An alert has to say what happened at a glance. That's why you can assign different colors depending on the type of notification:
- Points: one color when the user gains and another when they lose, so the message is understood before it is read.
- Ranks: custom alerts when a user reaches a new rank and also when they drop to a lower one.
- Badges: a custom notification when the user earns a new badge.
- Position and style: you can change the color, the style and the place on the screen where the alert appears.
Announcing a rank demotion is a design decision: it motivates some users and frustrates others. The option is there, but think about whether it fits the tone of your community before turning it on.
Sound, visual themes and exclusions in myCred Notifications Plus
Besides the visual alert, you can add customizable sound effects to catch the user's attention, and choose among several themes and styling options so the popups match your site's design.
The most useful feature for stores and content sites is exclusion: you can stop notifications from showing on specific posts, pages or products. That way you avoid an alert covering an important product page, a checkout page or a long read. All of this works on a single site as well as on a multisite installation.
Are popup alerts enough or do you need more in your program?
This add-on only takes care of alerting. myCred must be installed: without it, this does nothing. It also doesn't decide when a point is granted or what can be done with it. If you haven't yet defined which actions earn points, start there and leave the alerts for later.
Does it work without myCred?
No. It is a myCred add-on and depends on it; it does not replace the points, ranks and badges system.
Can I visually tell gaining points from losing them?
Yes, you can set the notification color depending on whether the user gains or loses points.
Can I stop alerts from appearing on certain pages?
Yes, you can exclude notifications from specific posts, pages or products.
Can sounds be added to the alerts?
Yes, there are customizable sound effects to alert the user when they receive a notification.
Does it work on multisite?
Yes, it can be used on a single site or on a multisite installation.
