About myCred Transfer Plus
Points that can be gifted are points someone will try to hoard
As soon as your users can pass points to each other, a problem appears that your rewards program didn't have: accounts created only to funnel points into a main one, swaps between friends to get around the rules, and complaints like "someone sent me points and I can't see them". A transfer that arrives instantly works in a small, trusted community, and works worse once the balance is worth something to whoever holds it.
myCred Transfer Plus adds control over the transfers already allowed by the Transfer add-on built into myCred: waiting time, fees and exceptions, plus tracking of each transaction ID.
Holds, fees and exemptions in myCred Transfer Plus
Each feature answers a specific situation:
- Held transfers: you can leave all transfers on hold for as many days as you choose.
- Role exemption: the roles you specify skip pending transfers. Useful for your team, moderators or trusted accounts.
- Transfer fee: you can charge a fee for receiving transfers and for other transactions. Moving points now has a cost, which discourages constant back and forth.
- Per-user fee: you can override the general fee for a specific user, for example a regular collaborator.
- Dedicated menu: pending transfers can stay inside the myCred menu or have a separate menu in the admin area.
- Pending shortcode: it shows each user their pending transfers, incoming or outgoing, so they don't write to you asking where their points are.
The limits are worth knowing. It doesn't work on its own: it needs myCred and its Transfer add-on, because it extends that mechanism rather than replacing it. Nor does it detect fraud by itself: it gives you time and control, and deciding what to do with each case is still up to you.
Questions before installing myCred Transfer Plus
Can I use it without myCred?
No. It is a myCred add-on and works together with the Transfer add-on that is already built in.
Do all users have to wait?
No. You can exempt any roles you want from pending transfers, so the hold only affects everyone else.
Can I charge a different fee to a specific user?
Yes. There is an option to override the general fee on an individual basis.
Can users see what is pending for them?
Yes, with the shortcode that shows incoming and outgoing pending transfers. You see them from the myCred menu or from the dedicated menu you set up.
The hold period is decided before you open transfers
The most delicate part of getting started isn't technical, it's a matter of judgment. Before activating anything, decide how many days of waiting make sense for your community: too many and your users will feel their points are held hostage; too few and you won't have time to review.
Also decide which roles are exempt and whether the fee will be general or have exceptions. Test the whole flow with two test accounts, place the shortcode on your users' account page and explain the rules in writing to avoid misunderstandings.
