Worth knowing before buying, because it is what separates those who love it from those who abandon it within a week.

Almost every builder sits on top of a theme, which comes with a safety net: some default styles, some templates, some decisions already taken by somebody else. Oxygen removes that net. It replaces the entire theme system: no inherited styles, no starting template, nothing until you build it.

What it does

• Replaces the theme: you build headers, footers and templates for any content type from the builder itself.
• Lays out with native flexbox and CSS grid, no tricks and no wrappers.
• Generates clean code, which is its central argument and what explains its speed measurements.
• Takes PHP, JavaScript and CSS written by you inside the builder.
• Connects dynamic data from ACF, Meta Box or Toolset for building structured content sites.
• Brings a design library so you do not always start from nothing.

When it pays

If you know some HTML and CSS. Programming is not required, but understanding how a page is structured is: whoever understands it moves extremely fast, whoever does not suffers.

If performance is a requirement, not a wish. On projects where speed gets measured and demanded, starting from nothing weighs less than cleaning up what somebody else brought.

If you need to deliver fast and without complications, there are kinder roads: a lightweight theme with its library, like the Astra Pro licence, or a builder with more of a safety net like the Bricks licence.

About licensing and the GPL

The code is distributed under the GPL licence and its use is free. Updates, support and activation against the maker's servers are separate services contracted with them. They are not the same thing, and buying one is not buying the other.
