About Paid Memberships Pro Group Accounts
When the person who pays is not the person who logs in
Selling a membership to a company, a family or a classroom often ends in manual emails: someone pays once and then writes to you every time a person joins or leaves. Charging one person and giving access to several is easy to say and awkward to run if each member needs their own user account.
There is a detail you find out late: in these sales the buyer is almost never the one using the content. It is the training manager, the parent, the club coordinator. If you don't give them tools to manage their people, the work of adding and removing members ends up being yours. Paid Memberships Pro Group Accounts is designed so they can do it themselves.
Paid Memberships Pro Group Accounts: one parent account and many child accounts
The model is simple: a main account pays and administers, and each member of the group has their own account with individual access to your content. It is enabled in the membership level settings, and the plugin generates the page where the group leader manages their group.
- Seats at checkout: the parent account chooses how many people their purchase includes.
- Group code and direct links: the leader sees them and shares them so their people can register.
- Email invitations: they can invite members by email, using a message template that you edit.
- Access control: the parent account and the administrators see who is in the group and can remove people.
- Regenerating the code: if the code leaks or is misused, it can be changed.
Companies, families, classrooms and gyms with a single paying account
It fits wherever one customer buys for others: a company training its staff, an educational institution opening courses to students and teachers, a family plan, a gym with corporate agreements or a club with interest subgroups. It also works for a multi-tier structure, as described in one of the product's own guides.
If you used Sponsored Members before, this add-on replaces its code-based features with more features and a no-code setup, and there is a guide to migrate that data. You can also import group members, which is useful if you already have a list of employees or members.
Is Group Accounts right for you if you already sell with Paid Memberships Pro?
Yes, if your typical customer is an organization or a household rather than a single person. No, if you only sell individual memberships: you would just be adding settings you will not use.
It is an add-on, not a standalone plugin: it needs Paid Memberships Pro installed and is designed for sites where members can hold one or more active levels. After activating it, you will need to configure the levels, the management page and the emails. It does not bring a content catalog or another payment system on its own: it uses the one you already have in Paid Memberships Pro.
Does it work without Paid Memberships Pro?
No. It is an add-on and depends on the base plugin.
How do group members join?
By email invitation, with the group code, or through the direct checkout links the leader can see.
What do I do if the code is shared where it shouldn't be?
The parent account or an administrator can regenerate it.
Can I load an existing group?
Yes, there is an option to import group members, so you don't have to invite them one by one.
Does it replace Sponsored Members?
Yes, it replaces its code-based features with a no-code setup, with a guide to migrate the data.
