About Quiz Customizer for Learndash
The blue LearnDash leaves in your quizzes
You pick your academy's colors, adjust the theme and get the lessons just right. Then a student opens a quiz and the main color is a blue you never chose: the one LearnDash uses by default.
A quiz is an interface with its own parts: timer, review box, correct and incorrect notices, buttons to move forward. Having chosen a theme for the site does not mean you have decided how those parts look, and that is where the student stops to answer.
Quiz Customizer for LearnDash, by Escape Creative, applies a custom design to those elements so the exam becomes part of your academy.
Six quiz areas that become yours
- Colors: a global color replaces the default blue, with light and dark shades for correct and incorrect answers.
- Questions: single and multiple choice can be laid out inline or stacked. Fill-in-the-blank questions use a background color or an underline, solid or dashed.
- Review box: circular, square or rounded numbers, with custom colors for the answered and review states.
- Timer: solid or striped bar, colors for the container and the bar, and a custom height.
- Buttons: colors for primary and secondary buttons, hover background and text, and a shared border radius.
- Corners: a global border radius for the whole quiz design.
Three settings to check with a real exam
Answer layout. If your options are long sentences, compare the inline and stacked views with your own text. A sample with one-word answers will not tell you which reads better.
Correct and incorrect. Take a full quiz and make mistakes on purpose. That way you confirm the chosen shades stand apart from your brand color and the text stays readable.
Time bar. Timer styles also apply to the submission progress bar. If you change the pattern or the height, check both.
Appearance yes, wording no
The options for changing text were removed from the plugin, so the wording of the quiz stays outside this plugin. To change it, use a translation plugin such as Loco Translate or Say What?.
All its settings are visual: its features do not include new question types or scoring rules. Nor does it work on its own, because it is an add-on for LearnDash, which is a separate product.
LearnDash, theme and builder: getting it running
It should work with most WordPress themes, with support for BuddyBoss and eLumine, so test it on a copy if you use another theme. With Elementor, Beaver Builder and Divi, you first lay out the page in the builder and then the plugin improves the quiz design.
This order lets you see each change on a real quiz:
- Install and activate LearnDash, then this plugin.
- Prepare a test quiz with every question type you use and a timer.
- Set the global color and the correct and incorrect shades.
- Adjust questions, review box, timer, buttons and corners.
- Take the full quiz with a student account, on phone and on desktop.
When your academy needs more than styling
Design Upgrade Pro for LearnDash belongs to the same family and does not compete with this plugin: Quiz Customizer is compatible with its free and Pro versions, and it is best to have at least the free one. That version redesigns LearnDash to bring it closer to your theme.
If creating the questions is what slows you down, LearnDash Quiz Import Export generates them from an Excel or Google Sheets template.
LearnDash quizzes with your brand, in four answers
Can I remove the LearnDash blue?
Yes. The global color replaces it with your brand color in the quiz.
Can I change the button text?
Not from this plugin, because the text options were removed. Do it with a translation plugin such as Loco Translate or Say What?.
Does it work with BuddyBoss?
Yes, BuddyBoss and eLumine are supported. It should work with most other themes, but test it first.
Do I need Design Upgrade?
It is compatible with both versions, and it is best to have at least the free one for the best result.
