About Restrict Content Pro Ultimate Member
Two plugins keep two versions of every member
You collect dues with Restrict Content Pro and your community lives in Ultimate Member, with its registration, profiles and directory. Each part does its job well. But a member stops paying, their subscription expires and the fact stays in the plugin that bills, while their profile remains in front of everyone else as if nothing had changed.
When billing and profiles live in separate plugins, each person has two records, and someone has to keep them in agreement. Doing it by hand stops being reasonable as soon as the list grows.
This add-on joins the two: it brings subscription data to the Ultimate Member profile and makes the profile's status follow the subscription's. When the subscription expires, the profile expires with it.
Three changes your members notice
- A new tab in their account: inside the Ultimate Member account page, each member manages their payment and subscription settings.
- Subscription data on the profile: the Restrict Content Pro information is added to the Ultimate Member profile.
- A notice on expiry: if the membership lapses, the profile expires too and shows a notice.
The day a subscription runs out
The add-on works in the background, so nobody on your team has to touch the profile that day. What does deserve your time is what the member receives before and after:
- Before: upcoming expiry notices are customized under Restrict » Settings » Emails, inside Restrict Content Pro.
- After: the notice appears on the profile itself. There are guides for customizing the suspended profile message and for changing what the subscription tab shows.
Write the reminder with what will change for that person in mind: if your community revolves around the profile, say so in the email before it expires.
An active profile is not always a paying member
Ultimate Member activates for every user who registers, no matter how they registered. The link with billing comes later, when a Restrict Content Pro membership expires. Keep this in mind if you also accept free registrations: you will have active profiles of people who never paid.
Ultimate Member decides separately who sees what. In each directory you choose which roles are shown and who can open it: anyone, guests only, members only or specific roles. Review those settings together with this add-on, because they are what shape your public member list.
It does not bill on its own or create membership levels either: that stays in Restrict Content Pro. And it does not replace Ultimate Member, which provides the profiles and the account.
Installing and checking with a test member
You need Restrict Content Pro and Ultimate Member running. The add-on installs like any WordPress plugin and asks for no configuration. What matters is checking the whole path:
- Install and activate the add-on.
- Log in as a test member with an active membership and open their account to see the new tab.
- Let that membership expire and review the notice on their profile.
- See how that person appears in your directory and adjust the roles or access if needed.
- Customize the expiry reminders under Restrict » Settings » Emails.
When you prefer a single piece for billing
If you do not have both plugins yet, there is no need to start with this pairing. The Ultimate Member bundle includes a Stripe extension that sells memberships with subscriptions. If your business is selling access and profiles matter little, MemberPress Pro brings together access rules, content by date and recurring billing, and Paid Member Subscriptions collects recurring dues.
For the billing side of this pair there is Restrict Content Pro.
Profile expiry and the new name
Is there anything to configure?
No. The add-on works in the background. What you can adjust are the emails, in Restrict Content Pro.
What does someone with an expired membership see?
Their Ultimate Member profile expires and shows a notice. The text of that message can be customized.
Are free users blocked in Ultimate Member?
Ultimate Member activates for anyone who registers, by any route. Expiry affects the profile when a membership lapses.
Is Restrict Content Pro the same as Kadence Memberships?
Restrict Content Pro is being renamed Kadence Memberships, so you may see both names during the transition.
