About RyanCV – CV Resume Theme

A PDF freezes the day you send it

You send your resume to a company, and three months later you finish the project that best represents you. That PDF is still in the recipient's inbox, saying what it said back then. Updating it would mean writing again, and you cannot do that without a reason.

A resume in a file ages in other people's hands; one at a web address always says what you decided this morning. That is the reason to have your own site even with a well-made PDF, and it is the angle from which to evaluate RyanCV: how much it takes to keep it current.

RyanCV, by bslthemes, is a vCard-style WordPress theme for a resume and personal portfolio, built with Elementor and aimed at professionals who want their career and their work in one place.

Twenty demos sorted by profession

Most start from a trade:

  • Technology: Web Developer, Developer, App Developer, Game Developer, ML Engineer, DataOps, System Engineer and Cybersecurity.
  • Design and content: UI/UX Designer, Designer, Copywriter and Content Creator.
  • Business: Project Manager, Business Consultant, Marketing Manager, SEO Specialist and Lawyer.
  • Others: Crypto, Digital and Classic.

Your profile and a portfolio that opens more than photos

  • Career timeline, with a button to link a certificate.
  • Skills as percent bars, dotted bars, circles or a knowledge list.
  • Testimonials in a carousel and pricing tables for those selling services.
  • Profile background with an image, slideshow or video.
  • Light and dark mode, with a live switcher.
  • Blog with category filters and a Google Maps map.

Each project carries a featured image, title, description, categories and, if you want, a video link for the popup. The viewer handles images, galleries, media, iframes, SoundCloud audio and links, with filters so visitors reach what they are after.

Portfolio pages are built by dragging the Portfolio widget in Elementor, with grid or carousel listings. Updating the site with new work means creating an entry, not rebuilding a page.

The PDF, the photos and the form are on you

RyanCV's features do not include a PDF generator: if an application asks for a file, you will still have to prepare it separately.

The demo preview images are not in the download, so you will need your own photos. The contact form does not work by itself: you create it in Contact Form 7 and enter your email. The store, for its part, is WooCommerce, for anyone who wants to sell something from their profile.

Setting up RyanCV with your details

You need a working WordPress install. These are the steps:

  1. Install and activate the theme, and follow the prompt to install the required and recommended plugins.
  2. Go to Appearance, Import Demo Data, and pick the demo closest to your profession.
  3. Create the form in Contact Form 7, enter your email in the Mail tab and select it in the Contact Form widget on the contact page.
  4. Replace the sample career history and skills, and add your projects under Portfolio.
  5. Create the menu and send the link to someone you trust to open on their phone.

It is also compatible with WPML, Polylang and Loco Translate, ships .pot files, supports right-to-left text and includes a child theme.

Web resumes with a different character

If the work matters more than the career history, Tokyo is a minimal theme whose portfolio entries accept images, Vimeo, YouTube or SoundCloud.

From the same author, Arter is a resume theme with custom career and portfolio widgets. Another vCard-style option is Gentleman.
