About Split : WordPress CV/Vcard Template

A PDF résumé gets lost in an inbox, doesn't update when you change jobs and doesn't show your work in motion. A personal website solves that, but building one from scratch just to post a few details is often overkill. Split is made for that case: a personal page that works as a business card and a résumé.

A candidate gets compared with a hundred others in minutes

Whoever is hiring, or asking you for a quote, looks at your profile very quickly and rarely reads everything. What matters is that the first screen makes clear who you are and what you do.

What sections Split offers to tell your story

The demo shows a one-page layout with a top menu (About, Portfolio, Blog and Contact) and these blocks:

  • Introduction: name, profession and a short text about you.
  • Personal details: name, date of birth, address, email, phone and Skype.
  • Professional skills: design and programming tools and abilities, plus personal qualities.
  • Experience and education: two chronological lists with job title, organization, dates and description.
  • Services: blocks with a title and a short explanation of what you offer.
  • Testimonials: opinions from clients or managers with their job title.
  • Portfolio: works filterable by category, such as graphic design, motion graphic or web design.
  • News and contact: recent blog posts, company details and a section to write to you.

It also includes "Download my CV" and "Print my resume" buttons, useful for anyone who needs to send a document in addition to the website.

A responsive design doesn't replace a check on mobile

The long experience lists and the portfolio filters are the first things to review on mobile with your own content, not with the demo's placeholder text.

You provide the content and the PDF

Split is a visual template: it gives you the structure, but the groundwork is yours. Here is what it solves and what you will have to cover yourself:

  • Already solved: the layout of a personal page with profile, experience, services, portfolio, testimonials, blog and contact sections.
  • Already solved: the presence of buttons to download and print the résumé.
  • Up to you: writing the texts, since the demo's are placeholders.
  • Up to you: preparing your own PDF and checking that the download button points to it.
  • Up to you: your images, videos and portfolio works.
  • Up to you: checking in the demo whether the contact form works with your email or whether you need a forms plugin.

The demo uses a visual builder (messages from the js_composer plugin, the well-known WPBakery, can be seen), so it is reasonable to expect that you will need it to edit the sections as they appear. Verify this before planning the work.

When Split falls short

If you need bookings, a shop, courses or a site with many different pages, a more general theme is better. And if your profession isn't visual, the portfolio with design filters will be surplus and you will have to adapt it.

Frequently asked questions

Is it for a person or for a company?

It is aimed at a person: own name, personal details and résumé. It can show services and company details, but the structure revolves around an individual profile.

Can I remove the sections I don't use?

Check in the demo how they are hidden or reordered. If you have no testimonials or blog, remove them before publishing instead of leaving placeholder text.

Does it include a blog?

Yes, the demo shows a latest news section and a list of posts, with posts that have an image, a gallery and no image.

Is the CV generated automatically?

No. The download and print buttons exist in the design, but the file that gets downloaded must be prepared by you.
