About Suga – Magazine and Blog WordPress Theme
A magazine with many sections breaks at the front page
When a blog grows to cover technology, product news and breaking stories, the problem is no longer writing but showing: a front page that always displays the same thing buries what is new, and a flat menu forces readers to guess where to look. Suga is designed for that moment, when the editorial job is deciding what appears first in each section.
The idea behind this listing is simple: in a magazine, each category is almost a small publication with its own rhythm. A theme that treats them all the same ends up boring. Suga lets each one have its own layout, colour and sidebar.
Building the front page by dragging modules with BKNinja Composer
Suga's home page is built with the BKNinja Composer plugin: you pick modules, drag them into sections and combine them as you like. If you don't want to start from scratch, several demos import with one click and serve as a starting point.
Suga controls each category and each post separately
This is what matters most in a magazine. Features worth having:
- Categories: 13 category layouts, 3 layouts for the featured area, its own colour and a specific sidebar. The options only affect the categories where you enable them.
- Pagination: three styles: Ajax Load More, Ajax Pagination and standard WordPress pagination.
- Posts: 17 post layouts, standard, gallery and video formats (YouTube or Vimeo), and options for related posts and same-category posts.
- Reviews: a built-in review system with a summary that supports a pros and cons list, useful if you analyse products.
- Header and menu: nine header types, an optional sticky header and a mega menu that shows posts inside a category item.
- Readers: loading more posts without reloading the page, Ajax login and social login.
- Sidebars: a custom sidebar generator, left or right, with an option to keep it fixed while scrolling.
What you won't find: it is an editorial theme, not a shop. Although the title mentions ecommerce, the description focuses on content, reviews and front pages, so if you need a catalogue and cart, check in the demo what it really offers before deciding.
Frequently asked questions about Suga
Is it suitable for a small personal blog?
Yes, but it is designed for publishing a lot across several sections. With few posts, many of its options will be unnecessary.
Can I review products with a score?
Yes, it includes a review system with a summary and pros and cons lists, plus rich snippet markup for posts and reviews.
Can it be translated?
It includes a .pot file so you can translate it into any language.
Does it adapt to mobile?
It is fully responsive and you can hide the sidebar on small screens.
Can I change fonts and colours?
Yes: Google fonts, free colour schemes and a theme options panel, plus colour per category.
Demos import with one click, but you adjust the front page yourself
Import the demo closest to what you want to publish first, then tweak the front page modules instead of building it from scratch. Once that is done, configure the main categories one by one: layout, colour and sidebar. Finish by uploading your logo and favicon, and check on mobile that the hidden sidebar leaves no gaps. Keep in mind that the demo's sample content is not part of your site: your own texts and images will have to take its place.
