About Sugar Calendar - Event Ticketing

When capacity fills up through scattered messages and loose transfers

Organizing a workshop, a talk or a small concert usually ends the same way: people who say they will come, people who pay somewhere else, a spreadsheet nobody updates and a room with more or fewer chairs than planned. Sugar Calendar - Event Ticketing is the add-on that brings ticket sales to the events you already publish with Sugar Calendar, so payment and capacity live in the same place as the date.

People who run small events rarely have a box office team: they have a calendar, a venue with fixed capacity and little patience for reconciling payments by hand. That is the real problem: it is not selling, it is knowing how many seats are left without doing the maths.

A Saturday workshop with limited places, step by step

Imagine you run a pottery workshop with a fixed number of places. This is how it goes with the add-on:

  • You create the event in Sugar Calendar with its date, description and, if you want, its venue. Venues are saved once and reused with their Google Maps map.
  • You define ticket types if you need them, for example a general one and another for a different audience. The add-on works with flexible ticket types.
  • You get paid through Stripe or WooCommerce, depending on the payment system you already use.
  • You collect each attendee's details and, before the day, you can write to everyone who signed up from the plugin itself.

Two important limits in this walkthrough. First, it is an add-on: it needs Sugar Calendar installed and does not work on its own. Second, to take card payments you need a Stripe account (or a WooCommerce shop if you prefer that route). If you want a client to book an individual appointment in your schedule, that belongs to the Sugar Calendar bookings module, not this ticketing one.

Event series and venues you never type twice

If you run the same course every week, Sugar Calendar lets you repeat events daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, or duplicate one with a click. Check in the demo how the quantity behaves on each repeated date before launching a long series.

Venues work the same way: you save the address once and each event shows its details and map. For anyone who rents several rooms, it avoids address mistakes in the information the buyer sees.

Questions before you enable tickets

Do I need to know how to code? No. Sugar Calendar is handled with Gutenberg and Elementor blocks or with shortcodes.

What if the event is free? To confirm attendance without charging, Sugar Calendar has a separate RSVP add-on.

When confirming attendance is enough and you do not need to charge

There is a practical reason to charge even a little: people who pay tend to commit more than those who just say they will come, and you plan chairs, materials and coffee with more reliable numbers. But if your activity is a neighbourhood meeting or an open event, charging adds nothing and RSVP is enough.

Do not expect a large-venue ticketing platform either: this add-on fits workshops, talks, classes and community events better than festivals with thousands of tickets.
