About SureMembers WordPress Plugin

A paywall has more doors than the page

You protect an article, open it in a private window, see the restricted access notice and call the job done. Meanwhile, that text may still surface in your site search or come out through the WordPress REST API. The PDF you sell has its own address, and an address gets forwarded in a message. A single account can be open on several people's computers.

A membership sells access, and access leaks through the paths you have not tested. Checking the page only proves one of the entrances.

SureMembers Pro, by Brainstorm Force, adds advanced features to SureMembers Core, the base content restriction plugin.

The entrances SureMembers Core watches

  • Scope of your choice: the whole site, post types, taxonomy archives or hand-picked items.
  • URLs: restriction by URL, including regular expressions, and exclusions inside a broad rule.
  • REST API and search: restrictions also reach the REST API, search results and SureDash spaces.
  • Text fragments: the [suremembers_restrict] shortcode hides a part inside the content.
  • Visitors without access: a redirect, a message or teaser, or a specific page.
  • Member control: search, filters, expiration dates, auto-grant on registration, an analytics tab and a log of access grants and revocations.

What SureMembers Pro adds to that base

  • Protected downloads served from a private folder.
  • A limit on concurrent sessions per role.
  • Block-level restrictions inside posts and pages.
  • Drip content that unlocks a number of days after joining.
  • Role sync between WordPress roles and memberships.
  • Branded emails for welcome, password reset and expiration.
  • CSV import of users, memberships and expiration dates.
  • Team accounts with seat limits and invite links, and membership variations to offer several tiers from one access group.

Payment stays with another plugin

SureMembers handles restriction. To take payments you need to pair it with SureCart, SureForms, WooCommerce or another compatible payment plugin. With SureForms, the membership is granted when the payment completes and revoked on cancellation or full refund.

That boundary has a practical consequence: sign-ups, cancellations and refunds pass through two pieces. Make a test purchase, cancel it and check that the access really disappears.

It integrates with course plugins such as LearnDash and TutorLMS, and also with BuddyBoss. Member data stays on your WordPress site.

Core first, then six steps to the first membership

SureMembers Pro does not work alone: SureMembers Core must be installed and active first. With both running, this is the order:

  1. Create the membership with a name you will recognize; only you see it.
  2. Choose the protected content and add the exclusions that should stay public.
  3. Add the drip and attach the member files from the Media Library.
  4. Decide what visitors without access see.
  5. Set the expiration, relative or by date, and the role to assign.
  6. Give each membership a priority: if someone belongs to several, the higher number applies.

Then log in with an account that has no membership and test every door: the search box, the direct link to the file, a whole category and the REST API URL.

When MemberPress or LearnDash fits better

If you prefer access rules and recurring billing in one product, MemberPress Pro brings them together, with gateways such as Stripe, PayPal, Square and Authorize.net.

If the core of the project is training, LearnDash organizes courses, lessons and quizzes, and SureMembers can stay on as the access layer because it integrates with it.

Payments, team seats and code with SureMembers Pro

Can I use Pro without Core?

No. Core must be installed and active for Pro to work.

Does it process payments?

It handles content restriction. Payment is taken by SureCart, SureForms, WooCommerce or another compatible plugin.

How many memberships can I create?

They are unlimited, each with its own access rules.

Can I sell seats to a company?

Yes: team accounts have seat limits and invite links.

Do I need to code?

There is no need. Regular expressions and the shortcode are there for whoever needs them.
