About Temp Mail Professional
A mailbox that destroys itself, on a site that serves people who don't want to leave a trace
Many people don't want to hand over their real email address to download a file or try a service, because it ends up on spam lists. Temp Mail Professional turns your WordPress into a temporary mail service (also called disposable email, trash mail or 10 minute mail): the visitor gets an address, receives the validation message and leaves.
That changes how you need to think about the site. Your visitor arrives with a one-off need and has no intention of registering or coming back to subscribe to anything. What decides whether they use your service or a competitor's is that the mailbox responds clearly and messages are easy to read, not a lead-capture funnel. Design for a single, passing visit.
What you can adjust in the Temp Mail Professional mailbox
The professional version brings together the controls that separate an improvised service from an orderly one:
- Multiple domains: you can offer addresses on more than one domain, useful when some sites reject the best-known domains.
- Automatic deletion of expired messages: the inbox cleans itself, so you don't have to empty it by hand.
- Message and mailbox lifetime: you set them separately, to decide how long each email lives and how long the whole address lives.
- Attachments: messages with attached files can also be received.
- Inbox pagination: you choose how many messages are shown per page.
- Mailbox statistics: to see how the service is used and adjust the lifetimes.
Three ways to get the most out of Temp Mail Professional
If you're building a disposable email service as your main project
This is the clearest case. The expiry controls and the statistics help you keep the service from filling up with old messages and understand whether people need mailboxes that last minutes or longer.
If you want to offer more than one domain
With several domains, the user chooses which one to receive mail on. Keep in mind that every extra domain is something you'll need ready in your mail infrastructure before enabling it.
If space and tidiness worry you
A mailbox service nobody claims piles up junk fast. Shortening the life of messages and mailboxes, and deleting what has expired, keeps the inbox light and means the service doesn't depend on you cleaning up.
Questions people ask before installing it
What is the difference between message lifetime and mailbox lifetime?
The first sets how long each received email stays; the second, how long the temporary address exists. They are configured separately.
Can I receive attachments?
Yes, the professional version supports attachments in messages.
Can I use more than one domain?
Yes, it supports multiple domains. You need to have them available to receive mail.
Does it come with its own design?
The plugin adds the mailbox function. There are Temp Mail themes designed for this service, but they are separate; check in the demo how the inbox looks with the theme you use.
Is it useful for email marketing?
No: it doesn't send campaigns or manage subscribers. It is a temporary mail reception service.
It requires IMAP and about ten PHP extensions on your hosting
The plugin doesn't run on just any hosting. It needs these PHP extensions enabled: Imap, Fileinfo, Iconv, Mbstring, JSON, BCMath, ZIP, Ctype, OpenSSL and PDO. On some basic shared hosting IMAP isn't enabled, so ask your provider before installing.
