About ThemeREX Addons
The companion plugin that makes ThemeREX themes work
When you buy a ThemeREX theme and install it, the first thing it asks for is this plugin. That is not a decorative recommendation: a good part of what you saw in the demo lives here and not in the theme.
The split follows sensible WordPress practice. The theme handles appearance, and functionality goes into a separate plugin so it is not lost the day you change design. The post types, shortcodes and widgets ThemeREX Addons provides stay put even when the theme changes.
What it adds
- Custom post types for the sections a showcase theme needs and WordPress does not ship by default.
- Shortcodes for placing those elements inside any page or post.
- Widgets for sidebars and footer areas.
Together, this is what turns a freshly installed WordPress into the site shown in the theme's demo.
Why it is required rather than optional
Install the theme and skip this plugin and you get a half-built site: blocks that do not render, shortcodes showing up as stray text in square brackets, and demo pages left empty. When you import the sample content, WordPress expects to find these post types, and if they are missing there is nowhere for the data to go.
That is why the correct order is: install the theme, install this add-on, and only then import the demo.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work with any theme?
It is built for ThemeREX themes. With another theme the plugin can be installed, but the elements it provides will not have the styling that goes with them.
Can I deactivate it once the site is built?
Not advisable. The post types and shortcodes your pages use come from here, so deactivating it would stop those sections rendering.
Does it go in before or after the theme?
After activating the theme and before importing the demo, so the sample content has somewhere to live.
