About Tickera - Custom Ticket Template Fonts
You run events with Tickera and your tickets still look like a template
Tickets sell fine, but the PDF comes out in the same typeface as any other organizer's. This add-on changes exactly that: it lets you use your own fonts in the Tickera template designer.
It is for you if you already work with Tickera and have a brand typeface. It is not for you in these cases:
- Without Tickera installed: it is an add-on and does not work on its own.
- Without a .ttf file: the supported format is TrueType, so you need the font file.
- If you want new designs: it only adds typefaces, it does not include templates or change the ticket layout.
- If you lack permission to use the font: check that the font allows commercial use in print and PDF.
The ticket is the only piece of your brand the attendee holds in their hand
The website is seen once, at purchase. The ticket is shown at the door, printed, photographed and forwarded to whoever is coming with you. If at a festival, a conference or a gala that paper comes out in a generic font, the event looks more improvised than it is, even if everything else is polished.
Putting the typeface of the poster, the website and the ticket in the same family is a small detail that makes the whole event look like one thing.
Serif for the title, monospaced for the code: Tickera Custom Ticket Template Fonts in the designer
You upload your .ttf files to the WordPress media library, register them in the add-on settings, and they appear in the font dropdown of the template editor, next to the ones that already come with it. From there:
- You can upload as many fonts as you need.
- You can combine several on one template, for example one for the title, another for the code and another for the tagline.
- It works on any text element in the designer: event title, ticket code, attendee name, date and custom field labels.
- The designer preview shows the font applied while you edit.
Setup is done once and serves all your events and templates, with no need to repeat settings ticket by ticket.
The PDF carries the font embedded, on the buyer's phone too
The typeface is not only visible in the editor: it is embedded in the ticket PDF. That is why the buyer sees it the same on iOS, on Android, on a computer or printed at home, without the file falling back to a substitute font.
The file weighs a bit more, depending on the font and the character set it includes, which is barely noticeable in an email or a download on a phone. If you use non-Latin alphabets, the font must include those characters. Make a test ticket in your language before opening sales.
Questions before uploading your first font
Which font formats are supported?
TrueType (.ttf). If your font comes in another format, you need to get its .ttf version.
Where do I get fonts?
From Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts, MyFonts, Fontspring or your brand's own library. Any source that gives you a .ttf file works, as long as its use allows commercial print and PDF.
Where are the uploaded fonts applied?
Anywhere in the Tickera template designer where you can choose a font: they appear in that dropdown next to the default ones.
Can I use more than one font on the same ticket?
Yes. Each text element in the template can have its own.
