About User Registration MailChimp Addon

A site with user registration collects email addresses every day, but those addresses are useless for a campaign if they stay in the WordPress database and someone has to export them to Mailchimp by hand every so often. User Registration MailChimp Addon closes that gap: when someone signs up, they go into your Mailchimp audience as part of the registration itself.

You already have the email, what you lack is permission

Whoever builds a membership or registration site tends to see the list as an automatic prize: everyone who signs up goes on the list. But registering to access a private area is not the same as asking to receive newsletters, and mixing the two is the fastest route to mass unsubscribes, spam flags and a list with a bad reputation. This addon takes that into account: you can let the user decide whether to subscribe during registration, instead of adding them without asking.

What User Registration MailChimp Addon does with each signup

  • Automatic addition to the audience: the user is added to Mailchimp within the registration flow, with no manual exports.
  • Opt-in chosen by the user: you can offer a checkbox so they accept or decline to subscribe.
  • Mailchimp double opt-in: if you turn it on, the subscription is confirmed with Mailchimp's double opt-in.
  • Field sync: you map the registration form fields (name, email, custom fields) to the matching Mailchimp fields, so you can personalize your emails.
  • Lists and groups of your choice: you decide which Mailchimp list or group each form connects to.

How it fits depending on your type of site

If you sell memberships with several tiers

Connecting each form to a different list or group lets you separate members by plan type from day one.

If your registration form has custom fields

If you collect data such as company or main interest, you can map it to matching Mailchimp fields to personalize your emails.

If your audience is in the European Union

Double opt-in and the voluntary checkbox help you document consent, but the tool does not guarantee compliance with data protection law on its own. Word the checkbox text carefully and review your privacy policy.

It needs the base plugin and a Mailchimp account

It is an add-on: it does not work on its own. It requires the User Registration & Membership plugin installed and a Mailchimp account. Nor does it replace Mailchimp: it does not design or send campaigns, it only carries subscribers and their data to your audience. Check in the demo how it behaves with users who were already registered before you connected it.
