About WC Vendors Pro Simple Auctions
Opening a marketplace where vendors list fixed-price products is the usual route. The hard part is that anyone selling unique pieces, collectibles or second-hand goods doesn't know what price to ask, and there is no way to let the market decide. WC Vendors Pro Simple Auctions connects your marketplace with the WooCommerce Simple Auctions plugin from WPGenie so each vendor can create auctions from their own dashboard.
Sellers of unique pieces don't know what they're worth
That is the underlying problem in a marketplace for rare items: the seller suspects their piece is worth more than similar ones are listed for, but has no data. With an auction, buyers set the price and you don't have to arbitrate anything. That is why this plugin makes sense in collecting, art, antiques or clearance niches, and less so in a catalog of identical, repeatable products.
From the vendor dashboard to the winning bid, step by step
Here is a real case, from the moment the vendor decides to auction something:
- Choose the auction type. They can run a normal, reverse or sealed (silent) auction. They can also use proxy bidding.
- Define the numbers. Start price, bid increment, reserve price and buy it now price.
- Set the schedule. Start and end time for the auction.
It needs two more plugins to work
This plugin does not include the auction engine or the marketplace: it is the bridge between WC Vendors and WooCommerce Simple Auctions, from WPGenie. Without that auction plugin and without the multi-vendor base, there is nothing to connect. Keep this in mind when budgeting, because they are separate pieces that you must have installed and compatible with each other. Can I build something similar to eBay with it?
Yes, on the auction side: several vendors publish auctions with bids, reserve and buy it now in one site. A complete marketplace also requires the WC Vendors setup itself.
Can my vendors mix auctions and fixed-price products?
They can create auction products from their dashboard. The auction product is defined by its own fields (start, reserve, dates).
Which auction types does it support?
Normal, reverse and sealed, with proxy bidding.
Does it work without WooCommerce Simple Auctions?
No. It is an add-on that depends on that plugin and on WC Vendors.
What to decide before opening the first auctions
Before inviting vendors, decide which type of auction you want to promote and whether you will require a reserve price. Choose the one that fits your niche and explain it to sellers. A well-designed auction needs few products at first, but with buyers who know it exists.
