About WooCommerce Checkout Addons
Charging for gift wrap and rush service without chasing emails
Many stores do extra work that nobody charges for: wrapping a gift, writing a dedication, speeding up a procedure or insuring a shipment. It ends up handled with an email after the order, a separate payment or a free favor that eats into your margin. The basic WooCommerce checkout covers what is needed to buy, but it has no place for those services.
WooCommerce Checkout Addons adds free or paid options to the checkout page. It is better to offer few, clear extras rather than an endless form.
Text fields, checkboxes and file uploads for every kind of extra
You can create custom fields of these types:
- Text and text area, for example for a gift message.
- Dropdown menus and multiple selections.
- Radio buttons, checkboxes and multi-checkbox lists.
- File uploads, useful if the customer must send you a logo or a document.
Each field can be free or carry a cost, fixed or percentage-based, depending on how the customer interacts with it. A percentage fits tips; a fixed amount fits services such as shipping insurance, stickers, company promotional products, rush service, wrapping or a gift receipt.
Extras that appear only when the cart justifies them
Conditional add-ons appear or change depending on the subtotal, the products in the cart or the value of another add-on. That way you can offer rush service only on certain orders, or a different extra when the amount passes a threshold, without filling the checkout with irrelevant options.
While the customer ticks or changes options, the order details and total update on the checkout page itself. If you need subscriptions, the plugin supports WooCommerce Subscriptions: the extra is added to the initial purchase and, if you want, to renewal orders as well. It is compatible with One Page Checkout.
On the management side, customers see their add-ons in emails and on the order detail page, and you can sort and filter WooCommerce > Orders by add-on and by its value. If the customer leaves checkout, uploads and selected options are saved.
Checkout Addons or Product Add-ons? It depends on where the extra starts
This plugin works at order level: the extra is offered on the checkout page, not tied to a product. If you only need fees or add-ons when buying a specific product, the developer itself recommends its Product Add-ons extension. Also, service and upsell fields do not support inventory management: do not expect them to deduct stock for a physical extra such as stickers. If you work with prices excluding tax, check in the demo how the extra's price is displayed before publishing it.
Can I accept tips?
Yes, with a percentage-based fee on the order.
Does it track stock for the extras?
No. Service and upsell fields do not support inventory management.
Does it work with subscriptions?
Yes, with WooCommerce Subscriptions: the extra is added to the initial purchase and, optionally, to renewals.
Can the customer upload a file at checkout?
Yes, there is a file upload field type, and the file is kept even if the customer leaves the checkout page.
