About WooCommerce Google Analytics Pro

WooCommerce Google Analytics Pro: knowing where the sale is lost, not just how much you sell

Your WooCommerce dashboard tells you how much you have sold, but not how many people reached checkout and left, or what they did with their cart before leaving. Without that data, decisions are made by gut feeling: you lower a price, launch a coupon, change a banner and wait to see what happens. This plugin sends your store's events to your Google Analytics account so you can see the customer's full journey.

There is a calculation almost nobody makes: a coupon can raise conversion and eat your margin at the same time. With coupon events, you see what conversion rate orders with a coupon have, before you repeat the promotion.

Cart, account and customer events that basic tracking does not record

Basic tracking captures actions such as 'Add to cart' or 'Checkout started'. The Pro version adds advanced event tracking:

  • Coupons: add and remove coupon.
  • Cart: changes to product quantities.
  • Manual orders: the ones you add yourself from the admin are also tracked.
  • Customer account: logging in and out, and product comments or reviews.
  • Refunds and cancellations: they are recorded as events.
  • Emails: opens of the store's emails appear as events in their own category.

Purchase behavior and checkout behavior reports

The plugin is compatible with the purchase behavior and checkout behavior reports in Google Analytics. The first shows how the customer browses and buys; the second shows the step of checkout where people drop off. It also sends payment options, such as the method chosen, so you can filter sessions by what each customer did.

You can exclude store managers and administrators from tracking, so your own tests do not pollute the data, and turn on user ID tracking to count people more accurately.

You draw the conclusions in Google Analytics

The plugin collects and sends data; it does not tell you what to change. Here is what it solves and what you must cover yourself:

  • Already solved: automatic sending of store events to Google Analytics.
  • Already solved: event names you can customize and disable one by one.
  • You cover it: a free Google Analytics account with enhanced eCommerce tracking turned on.
  • You cover it: reading and interpreting the reports in Google Analytics; the data is consulted there.
  • You cover it: for your own events, adding a code snippet to your theme.
  • Before buying: check that the plugin supports the type of Google Analytics property you use today; it is the question most worth settling.

Fitting WooCommerce Google Analytics Pro to the data you already have

If you already use Google Analytics, you do not have to rebuild your reports: you can rename events to match the ones you already use and disable those you do not need. The connection between the store and your account is made from the plugin settings. It is compatible with the cart and checkout blocks, with high-performance order storage (HPOS) and with WooCommerce Subscriptions.
