About WooCommerce Google Product Feeds

When Google rejects your products and you don't know why

Uploading your catalog to Google Merchant Center sounds like an afternoon's job, until the warnings arrive: the GTIN is missing, the brand doesn't match, the color isn't filled in, the title is too generic. WooCommerce stores what a shop needs to sell, not what Google requires to advertise. WooCommerce Google Product Feeds exists to close that gap.

The data Google asks for and your store never saved

People who advertise on Google Shopping often think they are spending on ads, but in reality they are spending on data: a product with a poor listing performs worse and makes the campaign more expensive. The plugin supports more than 50 feed attributes, including all the required ones. The simple ones (link, title, image) fill in on their own. Others are mapped with one click from product fields, attributes or taxonomies you already have. And for what WooCommerce doesn't collect, it adds its own fields to each product.

Values by level

You can set a default value for the whole store, another per category and another per product or even per variation. The feed picks the most specific one available. That way you don't fill in a thousand listings by hand to say the same thing.

Bulk loading

The additional fields work with the WooCommerce CSV importer and with the REST API, which is useful if your catalog is large and the data lives in a spreadsheet.

More than one feed, not just the product feed

  • Google product feed: the foundation for free listings and product ads.
  • Local inventory feed: for local surfaces and local inventory ads (with pickup fields).
  • Reviews feed: sends the ratings from the WooCommerce review system, with full feeds or daily and weekly incremental ones. Google may show stars in Shopping ads and, sometimes, in listings.
  • Promotions feed: sends supported promotions to Google.
  • Bing product feed: for Bing Merchant Center.

If you have few reviews, don't expect miracles from the stars. And you can exclude reviews from the feed when you need to comply with Google's policies. Publishing fake ratings, besides, is a serious problem, not a trick.

It works with the extensions you already use in your store

Integration is automatic with Product Bundles, Composite Products, Cost of Goods, Min/Max Quantities, Product Brands, multi-currency and Product CSV Import Suite, among others. If your store sells bundles or variations with different prices per country, check in the feed preview that the data comes out as you expect before sending it.

You need a Google Merchant Center account, and ads are created elsewhere

The plugin prepares and serves the feed, but it doesn't create ads or manage budgets. What it solves and what is up to you:

  • It solves: a real-time feed with the latest information, field mapping, default values, extra fields and feeds for reviews, local inventory and promotions.
  • Up to you: opening and verifying your Merchant Center account (an essential requirement).
  • Up to you: linking Google Ads and setting up campaigns, bids and budgets there.
  • Up to you: getting the data you don't have, such as the GTIN, MPN or Google category of each product. The plugin gives you somewhere to enter it, it doesn't make it up.
