About WooCommerce Smart Pack

Four plugins that need each other

Gift cards, wallet, refunds and points look like four separate things, and in most shops they get bought separately from four different authors. The problem appears when they have to connect: refunding an order to the wallet, redeeming points for credit, buying a gift card paying with the wallet. Every connection between third-party plugins is a point where something breaks.

WooCommerce Smart Pack brings all four modules in one package, talking to each other, and each one gets switched on or off separately according to what you need.

The four modules

  • Gift cards: turns any product into a card, at a fixed amount, in bands or chosen by the buyer, delivered by email.
  • Wallet: a credit account per customer, topped up in advance and used as a payment method when buying.
  • Refunds: refund management from the order, with the option of returning to the wallet rather than the card.
  • Points: rewards on purchase, with a configurable amount per product and support for variable products.

The combination that genuinely changes the arithmetic

Refunding to the wallet rather than the original payment method. It looks like an accounting detail and it is a substantial commercial decision: the money stays in your shop and very probably gets spent on a second purchase, rather than leaving the account never to return.

With two warnings. The first is legal: if the customer exercises their right of withdrawal, the refund has to go to the original payment method, and store credit can only be offered as an alternative the customer accepts, never imposed. Where it fits well is exchanges, problems and goodwill gestures, not withdrawals.

The second is managerial: issued credit is money you owe even though it has not left the account, exactly like gift cards sold. Worth carrying it in the books as a liability rather than as a free promotion.

Requirements

It needs WooCommerce. It is tested with current WordPress and WooCommerce versions and the usual browsers, and it comes translation ready. The four modules are independent: you can use only the gift card one, or only the wallet, without activating the rest.

How to start

One. Activate one module, not four. The one solving your most expensive problem right now.

Two. If you start with gift cards, decide expiry and tax treatment first, which change depending on whether the card covers one product type or the whole catalogue.

Three. Make a real test purchase end to end with each module you activate, including a refund.

Four. Before a big campaign, check the emails go out and do not land in spam. A gift card that does not arrive on the day is a guaranteed phone call.

Alternatives in the catalogue

If all you need is the gift card side with scheduled delivery to a recipient other than the buyer, Flexible PDF Coupons with advanced sending specialises in exactly that.

If what you want is conditional discounts and a more elaborate points programme, Advanced Coupons covers buy one get one, cart rules and store credit. And if the goal is recurring revenue rather than points-based loyalty, the right tool is WooCommerce Subscriptions.

For a serious loyalty programme, with tiers, referrals and point expiry, there is a dedicated product: WPLoyalty. This package's points module covers the basics; if loyalty is the axis of your business rather than an addition, worth comparing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I activate only one module?
Yes, all four are independent and get switched on or off separately.

Can refunds go to the customer's wallet?
Yes, and it is its most interesting combination, with the legal caveats around the right of withdrawal.

Can any product become a gift card?
Yes, at a fixed amount, in bands or chosen by the buyer.

Does it work with variable products?
Yes, including the points module.

Does it need WooCommerce?
Yes, all four modules rest on it.

Does wallet credit expire?
That depends how you configure it, and worth checking what your country's rules require on credit and vouchers.
