About WP Auto Republish Premium
A new date is a promise to the reader
Your blog has hundreds of posts that took real work and that nobody sees anymore, because the home page and archives only show the latest. Bringing them back by hand is a task that never gets done, which is why this plugin exists: it picks old posts and gives them today's date.
The risk lies in that same operation. A recent date tells the reader the text is current. If the post still holds, you gain visibility without misleading anyone. If it talks about a price, a version or a law that has since changed, you have just signed something expired with today's date. Automating the date forces you to decide first which posts can carry it.
WP Auto Republish Premium provides the filters for that selection and the tools to review what happened. The editorial decision stays yours.
What happens when a post is republished
- The date resets to the current one, and the post moves up to the home page, the top of the archives and the RSS feed.
- The address does not change, comments stay in place and the post is not duplicated by default.
- Dated links hold: if your addresses include the day, month or year, the plugin keeps that original information.
- The original date can be shown before or after the post, or you can hide it.
- It can also clone instead of updating, if you change the republish action.
Which posts return, when and with what control
Global selection combines a minimum interval and a random interval, inclusion or exclusion by category, tag or ID, ascending or descending order and an age range. It works with custom post types and taxonomies, and supports republish rules.
Per-post control lets you repeat a publication every day, week, month or year, set a specific date or republish in one click from the list or the editor.
Scheduled republishing solves the promise problem: you create a copy of the post, edit it and schedule it, and when it goes live it replaces the original. It is the right option for texts that need real changes.
Tracking includes history in logs, a dashboard widget with upcoming republications, a column in the list and an email notice when done.
What fires behind the scenes and what it does not do
Republishing can trigger the WordPress publish events. If you have a newsletter or a social feed connected to those events, an old post could go out as if it were new; that trigger can be disabled. RSS receives it too, so anyone following it will see it again.
The plugin can share to social networks with a template per account, and clear the cache of the site or of a post in most cache plugins and hosting platforms.
It does not rewrite your text: it changes the date and, if you ask, the title or address. Among its features there is no sharing to Pinterest or Tumblr, no OneSignal push notifications and no Polylang compatibility.
How to start without moving the whole archive
It works independently of the theme. Before activating it, check whether any newsletter or social plugin reacts to publishing. Then:
- Choose a category whose content still holds and exclude the rest.
- Set a wide interval and an age range.
- Decide whether you will show the original date.
- Check in the logs and the widget what has been republished.
- Widen the selection only when the result convinces you.
If what you need is updating or spreading the word
To review published content with approval involved, PublishPress Revisions Pro lets people propose changes without touching the visible version until an editor approves them or their scheduled time arrives.
If your work is spreading content across many networks, Blog2Social works with more than 20, Pinterest among them. And for planning new posts there is SchedulePress Pro.
Questions about dates, links and comments
Are posts duplicated?
Not by default. The date of the same post is updated, unless you choose to clone it.
Does the URL change on republishing?
No, unless you turn on changing the address on each republish. If you do, review your old links.
Do I lose the comments?
With normal republishing, no: they stay attached to the post. With scheduled republishing, test it first, because the original is deleted.
Can it republish pages and custom content?
Yes. It supports custom post types and taxonomies.
Can the original date be shown?
Yes, before or after the post.
