About WPForms ConvertKit

Creators whose list lives in Kit and whose WordPress site doesn't feed it

Many sites capture emails with a single form that dumps everyone into the same list, and months later you're left guessing who wanted what. That's the underlying problem: the moment someone subscribes is the only time they tell you why they came, and if you don't record it then, you can't get it back.

WPForms Kit is a WPForms addon that sends the data from each form to Kit (formerly ConvertKit). It suits anyone who already has a Kit account, publishes on WordPress and wants to decide in the form itself which list each person goes to.

It isn't for anyone looking for a standalone plugin: it needs the Pro version of WPForms and a Kit account of your own. Nor does it replace Kit as a platform: emails, automations and sequences are still built in Kit. This addon only collects the data and sends it over.

Each answer can send the subscriber to a different list

The most useful part is custom mapping: you link each form field to Kit's fields and lists. You can add custom fields, such as main interest or type of customer, so the subscriber arrives already segmented.

With conditional logic, what the person selects decides which list they join. For example:

  • Someone who ticks that they want beginner resources goes to one list.
  • Someone who says they already have a business goes to another.
  • Someone who selects nothing goes to a general list.

That way you avoid the classic form that asks three questions and uses none of the answers.

WPForms Kit connects once, and after that you just build forms

The connection is made with your Kit API key and API secret. Once it's set up, you can create as many forms as you want without repeating the process. WPForms collects the data, processes it and sends it to Kit.

Besides subscribing, the addon lets people unsubscribe and lets you track custom events. To publish the form, you can use WPForms' embed option or paste the shortcode wherever you need it.

Forms and messages that look like your brand

You control the design of the form, the confirmation message and the email notifications: colors, styles and fonts. This matters more than it seems, because a signup form that clashes with your site creates distrust at exactly the point where you ask for an email address.

You can also start from WPForms templates instead of building from scratch, and adapt the fields to your list.

Saving entries to Google Sheets requires another addon

This addon sends subscribers to Kit, but it doesn't keep a copy of every entry in a spreadsheet. For that you need to activate WPForms' Google Sheets addon. If you want a backup of what comes in, plan for it from the start.

Also, don't expect the plugin to decide your segmentation strategy for you: you have to design the lists, fields and rules yourself.

Questions before installing it

What do I need to connect it?

The WPForms plugin with the Kit addon and the API details from your Kit account (key and secret).

Is there a subscriber limit?

WPForms doesn't impose any limit on the number of subscribers you collect. Any limits on your Kit account depend on your Kit plan.

Can I customize the form and the confirmation?

Yes, the look of the form as well as the confirmation message and the notifications.

How do I publish it on my site?

Create the form with WPForms, connect it to Kit and insert it with the embed option or its shortcode.

Can I save entries to Google Sheets?

Yes, but by activating the Google Sheets addon in WPForms.
