Someone writes to ask you to stop sending them email. The request arrives through the contact form, a person reads it and handles it by hand on another screen. Signing up, on the other hand, was automated from day one.

A form connected to Campaign Monitor does not have to be only for subscribing: the action's method can also update, unsubscribe or delete.

WS Form Pro with the Campaign Monitor integration adds an action that sends the form's data to a list in your account. The method is chosen inside the action itself, so signing up, changing details and unsubscribing use the same piece, each with its own form.

What the Campaign Monitor action does

• When it runs: when the form is saved, when it is submitted, or at both moments.
• Target list: you pick one of the lists in your account; if you have created a new one, a refresh icon loads it.
• Method: Subscribe, Update, Unsubscribed or Delete.
• Opt-in field: you point to the field that acts as consent. It works well with a single checkbox that starts unchecked.
• Name mask: defines how the subscriber's name is built, for example with the variable of a text field such as #field(1).
• Field mapping: you pair each form field with its Campaign Monitor field, one row per pair.
• Form from a list: in WS Form, Add New, Campaign Monitor tab, one click on the list generates a ready-made form.

When filling a form from a list you can also map tags, which Campaign Monitor calls interests.

An idea of use: filling the form from the list

The integration also reads. With the Populate Using Action option, the form is filled with the subscriber's data held in a list. That only happens if the visitor is signed in and the email of their WordPress user matches that of a subscriber.

Combined with the Update method, it could let the member review their name or details and save them back to the list. Take it as a suggestion and adapt it to your list.

The moment of execution is also your choice: on save, on submit or at both. Decide it according to what you want to happen with a form the visitor does not finish.

Where the integration ends

It is an add-on for WS Form Pro and does not work with WS Form Lite. You also need a Campaign Monitor account.

Filling from the list requires a signed-in session and a matching email; an anonymous visitor sees an empty form. Among its features there is no panel of its own for editing lists or campaigns: that stays in Campaign Monitor. If a new list does not appear in WS Form, press the refresh icon on the tab.

Setting up the connection

1. Install the add-on the same way you installed WS Form Pro.
2. Open WS Form, Settings, Campaign Monitor tab, press Connect and follow the steps.
3. To create a form in one go, go to WS Form, Add New, Campaign Monitor tab and click a list.
4. To add it to an existing one, open the editor, the Actions icon, the Add icon and choose Add to a Campaign Monitor List.
5. Pick the list and method, point to the opt-in field, build the mapping and save.
