Some products leave very little margin in your shop: a box of screws, a charm, a piece that costs a few cents. If someone orders only two units, packing the parcel and paying for shipping eats the profit and sometimes exceeds it. And when you launch an offer on a star product, someone always shows up and takes the whole stock. This plugin sets quantity and spend rules in the cart so that does not happen.
A walkthrough with an online hardware shop
Imagine you sell screws and small hardware. Here is how it would work step by step:
- Step 1, you spot the problem. Orders of one or two units cost you more in handling and shipping than you earn. So you set a minimum quantity per product.
- Step 2, you choose the scope. You can set the rule for a single product, for a whole category or for all products sharing a tag. You can also limit the total number of items in the cart.
- Step 3, you add a minimum spend. Besides units, you can require a minimum (or maximum) amount to complete the order, with additional fees included or excluded from the calculation.
- Step 4, you warn the customer. Error messages are customizable and appear on the cart page and when clicking "Add to cart". That way the buyer understands what is missing instead of hitting an unexplained block.
- Step 5, you exclude what does not fit. If there are products you do not want the general rules applied to, you take them out of those rules and that is it.
The rules show on the product page
The plugin can display the full list of purchase rules on each product page. This matters more than it seems: a customer who knows the minimum before adding to the cart does not get a surprise at the last step, and is less likely to abandon the purchase out of frustration.

Can I set a maximum to protect an offer?
Yes. It is one of the intended uses: you limit the units per order on a promoted product so that one person cannot empty the stock. Keep in mind that the rule works on the cart, so it does not replace a control for repeat purchases across separate orders.
Does it work with variable products?
There is an option to calculate quantity restrictions as the sum of all variations, so the customer can combine sizes or colors to reach the minimum.
Can I apply rules to many products at once?
Yes, there are bulk actions to apply restrictions to several products at once, in addition to category and tag rules.
Is it useful for wholesale?
It helps organize purchasing by minimum quantities, which is the basis of a wholesale business. It is not a volume pricing or customer role system: it only limits quantities and amounts.
What changes if you combine it with other YITH plugins
It works with YITH WooCommerce Composite Products, YITH WooCommerce Product Bundles and YITH Request a Quote for WooCommerce. With bundles you can decide whether the rule applies to the bundle or to the products inside it; with composite products, the customer cannot add them if the quantity does not meet the rules; and with quote requests, quantity is also controlled at that stage. Those plugins are not included: to use each integration you need the related premium plugin installed and active.
When it is not what you are looking for
This plugin restricts quantities and spend, nothing more. It does not create discounts, manage tiered pricing or change how shipping is calculated. If your problem is that shipping small orders is expensive, here you have a way to prevent those orders, but not to charge for them differently.
