About AdSanity - Advertiser Reporting
An ad that expires without anyone noticing does not get renewed
You sell ad space to an advertiser, the ad runs on your site and the deal is closed. Months go by, the ad reaches its expiration date and nobody tells anybody. The advertiser does not remember when it ends and you do not check every date one by one. The ad disappears, and with it the income from the next renewal.
The renewal of an ad is decided at the moment it expires, and if nobody speaks up at that moment, the decision is made by default.
Advertiser Reporting is an AdSanity add-on with two functions for that situation: a reporting area advertisers enter on their own, and email alerts when their ads are about to expire.
Reports for the advertiser and expiration alerts
- Their own access: you create WordPress user accounts with limited access for your advertisers, and each one logs in to see the reports for the ads assigned to them.
- Ad figures: the reports show total views, total clicks and click-through rate.
- Top ten lists: the advertiser sees all-time top ten lists by clicks, by click-through rate and by ad group, which they can use to compare against their best-performing ads.
- Expiration alerts: the add-on automates emails about ads that are about to expire, so the advertiser knows when to renew. They are set up from the dashboard.
An advertiser account to review before handing over access
Before giving anyone access, create a test advertiser account and assign it one ad. Log in with it and look at what it sees: the figures for that ad and the top ten lists. It is a check you should make on your own site, because what each advertiser sees depends on the ads you have assigned to them.
If you have advertisers who ask for figures often, that account is what you will give them instead of a report prepared by hand.
What it reports and what it leaves to AdSanity
- It needs AdSanity installed and active. It does not create ads or groups, it only reports on them.
- Each advertiser sees the reports for the ads you assign. Their account has limited access.
- The reporting area is meant for the advertiser to check their data on their own, without asking you for it.
How to give an advertiser access
You need AdSanity active and at least one ad created.
- Install and activate the add-on like any WordPress plugin.
- Create a user account for the advertiser with the limited access the add-on offers.
- Assign to that account the ads that belong to it.
- Set up the expiration alert emails from the dashboard.
- Log in with a test account to check what the advertiser will see before sending them their login details.
AdSanity add-ons in the catalog
If you rotate several ads in the same slot, look at Rotating Ad Widget, which records each rotated ad as an impression the first time it appears in a page load.
Among the other AdSanity add-ons in the catalog are Impressions, Weighted Ads and User Role Ad Visibility.
