About AutomatorWP - WishList Member

Entering a level and being approved in it are two different moments

A member signs up for your membership and that same afternoon gets the welcome, access to the course and a notice to your team. If any of those was supposed to wait until you approved them, it has already been sent.

For this addon, a user being added to a level and being approved in it are two different triggers, and each reward hangs from the one that fits.

WishList Member for AutomatorWP connects your membership plugin with the rest of your site. It listens to what happens with levels and can also add or remove levels for a user from other rules.

Six triggers and two actions

  • User added to a level: fires when someone enters the level you choose.
  • User removed from a level: fires when they stop belonging to it.
  • User approved in a level: tells apart someone who was already validated.
  • User unapproved from a level: the opposite notice to approval.
  • User cancelled in a level: responds to a cancellation.
  • User uncancelled in a level: responds to a reactivation.
  • Action to add a level to a user.
  • Action to remove a level from a user.

Three rules that cross plugins

Three sample rules. When a user is added to a specific level, enroll them in a LearnPress course. When they are approved in a level, add a referral in AffiliateWP. And when they make a donation of a given amount in Give, add a level to them. These are ideas of use; adjust them to your site.

Two plugins you need at hand

It is a bridge, not a membership plugin: it needs WishList Member for the levels and AutomatorWP to create the rules. The two actions and four of the six triggers are PRO level; the two free triggers are adding and removing a level.

Among its functions there are no filters of its own for WishList Member: what decides whether a rule runs is the trigger and what you configure in AutomatorWP.

Building the first automation

Before you start you need WishList Member with at least one level and AutomatorWP running. Then:

  1. Install the addon with the WordPress installer and activate it.
  2. In AutomatorWP create a new automation.
  3. Choose as trigger one from the WishList Member list and select the level.
  4. Add the action: another connected plugin, or adding or removing a level.
  5. Activate it.

More pieces for your membership site

The membership base is WishList Member, and the rules engine is AutomatorWP Pro. To connect your levels with an affiliate program there is AutomatorWP AffiliateWP, and for LearnPress courses, the LearnPress plugin.

Answers about the addon

Do I need WishList Member?

Yes. The addon listens to and changes the levels of that plugin.

Can I give a level as the result of another action?

Yes. There is an action to add a level to a user, for example after a donation.

Does it distinguish between cancelling and removing?

Yes. They are separate triggers, just like approving and adding.

Which plugins can I connect?

The ones AutomatorWP integrates. The examples include LearnPress, AffiliateWP and Give.
