About Bookly Custom Fields (Add-on)

If your clients keep answering the same questions on WhatsApp before every appointment, this add-on is for you

Booking an appointment and then having to message the client to ask their size, skin type, service address or whether they have any allergies wastes time for both sides. The Bookly form only includes name, phone, email and notes, and almost everything else ends up in a loose message or in the notes field, where each client writes whatever they like.

Bookly Custom Fields is for those who already work with Bookly PRO and need specific data at the moment of booking. It is not for anyone looking for a complete booking system: it is an add-on and requires Bookly PRO to be installed.

Nor is it a general form builder: the fields live inside the Details step of the Bookly booking form, not on any page of your site.

The problem with free-form notes and how custom fields solve it

An appointment-based business loses a lot through poorly collected information: the client who forgets to mention they are bringing a child, the one who leaves out the address, or the one who writes the detail only halfway. A field with its own format forces people to answer what you need, the way you need it. The available types include:

  • Text for open answers.
  • Checkbox for confirmations or multiple options.
  • Drop-down and radio button to choose one option among several.
  • Numeric for quantities, such as number of people.
  • Captcha to filter automated bookings.

You can create as many fields as you need and mark each one as required or optional.

Ask only what applies: conditional fields and per-service fields

A long form scares off someone who just wants to book a quick haircut. That is why being able to bind each field to specific services matters: the allergy question appears only on the treatments where it makes sense, and the address question only on home services.

Conditional fields go one step further: a question can depend on the answer to another, so the client only sees the follow-up when it is needed.

Internal fields for your team

You can also create internal fields, visible only in the Bookly backend. They are useful for data the client should not see or fill in, such as a follow-up note or a label for your own use.

What you see after the booking

The answers are added to the appointment details in the Bookly Calendar, so whoever handles that day has them at hand without searching elsewhere. If the client changes something or calls to correct a detail, you can update the fields within the appointment details.

Check this before buying

  • That your setup uses Bookly PRO, because the add-on does not work without it.
  • That your questions fit the available field types (text, checkbox, drop-down, radio, numeric, captcha).
  • If you collect sensitive data, such as health information, think about whether you really need to ask for it when booking and how you will handle it: that depends on your business and the rules that apply to you, not on the plugin.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work without Bookly PRO?

No. It is an add-on that integrates into Bookly PRO and does nothing on its own.

Can I show a question only on some services?

Yes, each field can be bound to specific services.

Can I make a field required?

Yes, each field can be required or optional.

Where do I see the client's answers?

In the appointment details within the Bookly Calendar, where you can also edit them.

Can I have fields the client does not see?

Yes, internal fields are visible only in the Bookly backend.
