About EventOn Weekly View Addon
Your audience does not decide by the month
You prepare your program by the month because that is how you organize it: dates get closed, speakers confirmed, the calendar published. Whoever checks it arrives with a shorter question: what is on in the next few days, and which one suits them. To answer it, they have to go through an entire month looking for the dates that matter.
The month is the organizer's unit. The week is the attendee's. When there is activity almost every day, showing seven at once helps people compare and choose without jumping from event to event.
Weekly View adds that view to EventON: a week grid with navigation between weeks. It does not change how you create events, and it sells nothing by itself. It only makes sense if your program fills the weeks. With a couple of events a month, most of them would come out empty and a list will serve you better.
Days strip, table and navigation between weeks
- Week grid: calendar visitors move from one week to another or pick a date.
- Continuous navigation: moves forward and back week by week across months, through past and future events.
- Quick jump: a selector goes to distant weeks, and the This week button returns to the current one.
- Days strip: shows the days of the week and which ones have events.
- Quick glance: each date's tabs represent up to 3 events, in each event's color, and hovering shows their names.
- Table styles: a traditional week view and another with events inside a 7-column table with colorized days.
- Settings: colors, fonts and table and grid styles, the selector's date format and an option not to show events on load.
- Devices: responsive calendar.
Days strip or table: which suits your program
The default view loads one week of events. It suits visitors who look for a specific day and then want to see what is on.
The table view spreads events across the days in plain sight. It suits you if you want the week to read at a glance, like a timetable. It is enabled with the shortcode option week_style="1".
The table blocks view places events inside seven columns with colorized days. If you use colors by type of activity, it is worth deciding them before loading the program, because those tabs and blocks rely on them.
Three events per date on the strip and other Weekly View limits
The strip's tabs represent up to 3 events per date. If you schedule more activities on one day, that summary does not cover them all. Test it with your busiest week before choosing a style.
The add-on does not cover these needs either:
- Selling seats: ticket sales are another add-on, Event Tickets.
- Confirming attendance: RSVP Events is a separate add-on.
- Other views: the classic month grid belongs to Full Cal, the day strip to Daily View and the year view to Yearly View.
- Creating events: events are created in EventON, and this view only presents them.
EventON running and a first week on screen
You need the main EventON plugin installed and activated. Weekly View does not work alone.
With your events already created, follow these steps:
- Install and activate the add-on.
- Open the shortcode generator: in the block editor, with the Calendar Generator button on the EventON block; in the classic editor, with Add EventON Shortcode, next to Add Media.
- Configure the weekly view and place the result on the page.
- Add week_style="1" to the shortcode if you prefer the table.
- Adjust colors and fonts in EventON Settings, Appearance, WeeklyView.
EventON, Event Tickets and another calendar with a week view
Weekly View sits on top of EventON, which provides the month, agenda and tile views, repeating events and event cards. If you will charge for seats, Event Tickets sells through WooCommerce.
If you have not chosen a calendar plugin yet, The Events Calendar Pro brings together seven views, including week, day, map and photo, in the same product.
