About Freesoul Deactivate Plugins PRO

Hundreds of active plugins and a page that only uses one

Every plugin you install solves a specific problem: a form, a slider, a shop. But WordPress loads all active plugins on every page, so the form's code also runs on a blog post that has nothing to do with contacting you.

Freesoul Deactivate Plugins PRO lets you decide on which pages each plugin should exist and on which it should not, so the number of plugins stops being the problem.

From a form that loads everywhere to one rule per page

Picture a site with a shop, a slider, a contact form and several more add-ons. The walkthrough would be this:

  • You spot the surplus. You ask yourself where each plugin is really used: the form only on Contact, the slider only on the homepage, the shop only on its own pages.
  • You choose the criterion. You can disable by page, post type, archive, device, ajax action or custom URL. It is far finer than the WordPress plugins screen, which is all or nothing.
  • You test in preview. Disabling can be permanent or just for previewing. Start with the preview and check that the page keeps working fine.
  • You make it permanent. When the page keeps working fine, you turn the rule into a permanent one.

One important limit: the plugin stays installed and complete. FDP does not make it lighter, it only prevents it from loading where it serves no purpose. And the rules are yours to decide: if you turn off something a page needs, that page will fail.

Questions before turning plugins off with Freesoul Deactivate Plugins PRO

Does it only remove scripts and styles?

No. It also removes that plugin's database queries, and its PHP code does not run on the page where you disable it.

Is it useful for finding conflicts between plugins?

Yes. You can turn off a suspect plugin only on the page that fails and preview the result, without touching the rest of the site.

Does it replace a cache?

No. It reduces what loads on each page, but it does not do the job of a cache or of good hosting. They are measures that complement each other.

Do I need to know how to code?

No: plugins and pages are managed from a table-style interface. You do need to know which plugin is used on each page before turning it off.

More than removing scripts: the plugin disappears from the page

Turning a plugin off here is not the same as removing its scripts and stylesheets. Its database queries also disappear and its PHP does not run: on that page, the plugin does not exist. It is the same as deactivating it from the plugins screen, but selectively.

That is why it makes sense on sites with many plugins: you cut server work, not just files the browser downloads.

A switch to isolate plugin conflicts

With FDP you turn off the suspect only on the page that fails and preview it, without affecting the rest.

It does not tell you which plugin is to blame: you make that deduction, and FDP gives you a convenient way to check it.
