About GamiPress WooCommerce Discounts
A reward discount also advertises which products it lowers
You set up a discount for whoever completes an achievement, but the customer who has not earned it yet does not know it exists. A discount nobody sees moves nobody, and spreading the word by email or banner is one more chore.
The page of each achievement can show which products will be discounted once it is completed, so the discount also works as a showcase for those products.
GamiPress WooCommerce Discounts is a GamiPress add-on that grants discounts in WooCommerce to anyone who meets all the requirements of an achievement. Before it is earned, the achievement page lists the products that will be discounted; afterwards, the products that were discounted. The text that precedes that section is written in the add-on settings. That is why choosing the products is also choosing what you want someone who has not earned anything yet to see.
What it discounts, for how many and how many times
- Discount type: percentage or fixed amount, applied automatically to the user who meets the achievement.
- Products: the discount can apply to many products at once.
- Usage limits: an optional cap on total uses and another, also optional, on uses per user.
- Downloads: the discount can cover all downloads, and a group of them can be excluded.
- Variations: they follow the apply or exclude setting of their parent product.
- Classic and block stores: it works with the WooCommerce cart and checkout in both modes.
Where the discount shows and when it applies
In the store, the price shows the old amount and the new one. The discount also appears in the cart and at checkout.
For anyone who has completed the achievement, the discount is applied to the cart automatically.
If you want to adjust the calculation with code, the add-on offers filters to customize it.
A case: commenting on a post
One example combination: you create an achievement whose only requirement is commenting on a blog post, assign it a 20% discount on a selection of products and set a maximum of one use per user. Another example: a fixed discount amount as a reward for purchasing products. The purchase requirements come from the GamiPress integration with WooCommerce. Take it as a starting point and adapt it to your store.
How to get started
You need GamiPress and WooCommerce active. For requirements to speak about purchases, add the GamiPress integration with WooCommerce. Then:
- Install and activate the add-on alongside GamiPress.
- Open the add-on settings and write the text visitors will see before earning the achievement.
- Create or edit an achievement and define its requirements.
- In the achievement editor, choose the discount type, the products and, if you want them, the usage limits.
