About GeoDirectory Pricing Manager
A free listing that offers everything won't sell any paid plan
Setting up a directory is the easy part; the hard part is getting someone to pay to appear in it. If the free listing already shows phone, website and photos, the paid plan has nothing to justify the jump.
GeoDirectory Pricing Manager lets you design that difference on purpose: the basic listing falls just short and the paid one offers what the owner is missing. The model is pay per listing: each advertiser pays to publish.
GeoDirectory Pricing Manager packages and where their features end
You can create as many price packages as you need and decide what each one includes:
- Listing elements: images, website links and phone numbers are managed per package, so cheaper or free plans can carry less and paid plans more selling points.
- Expiry: you set an expiry date for listings and edit the fields shown next to each package.
- Featured listings: listings marked as Featured appear at the top of the results.
- Free trials and recurring payments: the advertiser tries it risk-free and the renewal is charged automatically, with no chasing anyone.
- Payment reminders: for single payments, they notify the customer to renew an expired listing.
What it needs to work
It doesn't work on its own: it's an add-on for the base GeoDirectory plugin and needs a payment system (GetPaid or WooCommerce). If you have Custom Post Types, you can create different packages for each content type. And pay to claim also requires Claim Listings Manager: the basic listing is free and the owner must buy a package to claim it.
GetPaid or WooCommerce: choose before opening the directory
GetPaid handles subscriptions out of the box. WooCommerce doesn't: for recurring charges it needs the WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin. If you already sell with WooCommerce and don't want another system, it's a valid option, but GetPaid is built by the same team and will always have the most compatible features.
- EU VAT: if you sell listings to European Union countries, the system locates the user's country and calculates the amount. Check your tax situation with your advisor.
- Invoices by email: a customer who abandons the cart can complete the purchase days later from the payment link.
- 20+ gateways: PayPal Standard, Authorize.Net, Worldpay and bank transfer are included; the rest are bought separately.
Common questions before setting up your plans
Can I have a free plan?
Yes. You limit which features the cheap or free listing carries and keep the advantages for paid ones.
Are renewals charged automatically?
With recurring payments, yes. GetPaid handles them out of the box; with WooCommerce you need WooCommerce Subscriptions.
Can I charge differently per content type?
Yes, if you have Custom Post Types installed: packages are created per post type.
Does it work with the other GeoDirectory add-ons?
Yes, it integrates with the rest of the add-ons in the ecosystem.
First the base plugin and the payment system, then the packages
Order matters: install GeoDirectory, choose and configure GetPaid or WooCommerce (with Subscriptions if you want recurring payments) and enable the gateways you'll use. Only then create the packages, starting with a basic one and a paid one with clear differences. Before opening, run a complete test purchase with your gateway to check that the listing is published, expires and is featured as you expect.
