About GetPaid Mollie Payments
Whether you get paid is decided in your Mollie account
You install the gateway, paste the key, tick the box and send the first invoice. It looks as if the work ended in WordPress. But the money goes another way: through a Mollie account that has to be in the name of a business, in a country where Mollie operates, and with a real key instead of the test one.
The technical part is the shortest one; what decides whether you get paid sits in your Mollie account. Mollie Payment Gateway is an add-on for GetPaid, the WordPress payments and invoicing plugin, and it has one job: adding Mollie as a payment gateway.
What GetPaid gains from this gateway
GetPaid already lets you sell items with buy now buttons, create payment forms and send invoices that customers pay online. The add-on adds Mollie to the available payment options, alongside the gateways you already use, and lets you decide the title and description it shows at checkout.
Mollie, for its part, works with cards, Apple Pay, PayPal, SEPA bank transfer, iDEAL, Bancontact, Klarna and other European methods. Which methods your customers actually see has to be checked with a test purchase.
The fields you will find in the settings
- Activate: turns Mollie on as a gateway.
- Checkout Title: title of the option at checkout.
- Checkout Description: optional description.
- Priority: priority of this gateway.
- Enable Test Mode: lets you check that everything works before charging for real.
- Test API Key: test key, which starts with
test_. - Live API Key: live key, which starts with
live_.
Euros, registered businesses and the other conditions
It works in euros. If your site invoices in another currency, do not count on this gateway.
Mollie is for registered businesses, not private individuals, based in the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the United Kingdom. If your business is outside those areas, check with Mollie before counting on this gateway.
It only connects GetPaid. If you sell with another plugin, you need a different integration. And the add-on does not create your Mollie account.
If you plan to sell subscriptions, include one in your test and also check the renewal before announcing it.
A test purchase from start to finish
You need GetPaid installed, this add-on active and a Mollie account.
- Copy the test and live keys from the Mollie dashboard.
- Go to GetPaid, Settings, Payment Gateways, Mollie, and paste both keys.
- Tick Activate and Enable Test Mode, and save.
- Make a purchase with a test item and check the invoice status.
- Disable test mode and save. If you leave it on, real payments will not work.
Square and Gravity Forms, for other payments
GetPaid Square Payment Gateway connects GetPaid with Square and works in the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom, so it covers other markets. If your forms are in Gravity Forms and not GetPaid, the catalog has Gravity Forms Mollie Add-On.
Keys, currency and test mode in GetPaid
Does it work without GetPaid?
No. It is an add-on for that plugin and needs it installed.
Where do I find the keys?
In your Mollie dashboard. The test key starts with test_ and the live key with live_.
Why are real payments not coming through?
First check that Enable Test Mode is off. With that option on, real payments do not work.
Can I charge in dollars?
Plan on euros. It is the currency this gateway works with.
Can I use it as a private individual?
Mollie is meant for registered businesses, not private individuals. If you are self-employed, check with Mollie which documents it asks for.
Can I have other gateways at the same time?
Yes, Mollie is added to the GetPaid gateways, and the Priority field sets its priority.
