About Gravity Forms Enhanced Choices
The decision happens far from the checkbox
At the top of your page you explain three packages in full detail. Down in the form, three radio buttons remain with three names: Basic, Professional, Enterprise. Someone about to choose can no longer see what each one includes and has to scroll up, compare and scroll back down to tick.
A form choice usually shows only a label, right at the moment all the information is needed to decide.
Enhanced Choices, by JetSloth, brings that information into the choice itself. It turns Gravity Forms radio and checkbox fields into cards with images, text, lists, labels and prices, so comparing and choosing happen in the same place.
Eight components to build each card
You can add these components to any choice and combine them differently on each one, or keep the same structure on all:
- Button: a button inside the card.
- Title and Label: a custom title and the choice label, which appears on the card automatically.
- Paragraph and List: running text and lists, useful for detailing what each option includes.
- Pill: a pill to highlight a short piece of data.
- Price: the price inside the card.
- HTML: your own content, for what the other components do not cover.
Selection happens with a click on the button or on the whole card. The content adapts to desktop, tablet and mobile, and images are added from each choice's content editor.
A theme system of its own, separate from the form
The design lives in themes, with their own no-code editor. There you adjust colors, fonts, backgrounds and borders, and set the default and selected states separately.
You can save several themes, export and import them between forms or sites, and download others from the community library. The Bulk Apply Themes tool updates the theme on several fields at once, and Image URL Replacement helps change image addresses, for example when moving domains. If a card needs to be different, the "override component style" toggle customizes it without touching the theme.
Pricing tables and video, with some code if you want to fine-tune
Cards work for building pricing tables and packages without leaving the form. Two adjustments take a little more:
- Price format: removing decimals or the space after the currency symbol is done with a JavaScript snippet in an HTML field or in the theme. The symbol size is changed with CSS on
span.gfec-price:first-letter. - Video: it comes in through the HTML component, with additional code and CSS.
Enhanced Choices works on radio buttons and checkboxes. Its features do not include cards for other field types, such as a drop down, so that question would have to be set up with one of those two fields.
Creating the theme and applying it to your first field
It needs Gravity Forms installed. The path starts with the theme and ends in the form:
- Install the add-on and open its settings to create a new theme with a title.
- In the theme editor, mark which components are visible and adjust the card style in its two states. Save.
- In the form, add a radio or checkbox field and turn on the Enhanced Choices checkbox.
- Give each choice a title and press the edit content button to add images, text and button text. The arrows take you from one choice to the next.
- Save the form and add it to your page.
- If the cards wrap onto two rows, change the columns from fixed width to auto width in the Enhanced Choices tab.
When the choice only needs an image or a color
If each answer comes down to a photo, Image Choices, by the same maker, puts images on radio buttons and checkboxes, also in surveys, polls and quizzes with the corresponding Gravity Forms add-ons. If the question is about shades, Color Picker offers swatches or a hexadecimal value selector.
Code and reusing themes
Do I need to code to design a card?
No. The theme editor works without code. Only some adjustments, such as price format or video, require snippets.
Can I use the same design on several sites?
Yes. Themes are exported and imported from the tools in the global Gravity Forms settings.
