About Kadence Cloud (Pattern Hub)
If you decide nothing, every key opens your whole library
You solved a pricing section for one client, a team block for another, and every new project starts by hunting for the site where they ended up. Gathering them in your own library looks like the whole job. But as soon as another site connects, the real decision shows up: what each access key can see. If you do not make it, the answer is everything.
Kadence Pattern Hub, also known as Kadence Cloud, turns a WordPress install into the source of your patterns. Connected sites import them from the Kadence Design Library, with your content, your name and your access rules. One client's patterns stay out of another's reach only if you organize your collections for that.
What your library stores and how it gets found
- Pattern items: each one is created in the editor, with its own content and settings.
- Categories and keywords: whoever connects filters by category and searches by keyword inside the Design Library.
- Collections: they work like tags and decide what each key reaches.
- Thumbnails: they are generated with the external API Flash service and saved to your site, or you upload your own featured image.
- Name and resync: you choose the name client sites will see and how often they must resync.
- Analytics: with anonymous tracking on, the Analytics tab counts imports.
To combine several items into a full page there is a separate extension, Pattern Hub Pages, which works on patterns already created.
Three ways to hand out keys
A key is generated, edited or removed from the settings, and when you edit it you choose its collections. These splits are our own suggestion, so adapt them to how you work:
- By team: one key for your designers with the full library.
- By client: one collection of shared patterns, another with their brand, and a key that reaches only those two.
- By package: one collection for what you sell, kept apart from your tests and commissions.
Selling access takes more pieces: WooCommerce, a key manager for WooCommerce and PHP filters on the library site. Each product can open only its own collection. Choose the manager carefully: not all of them cap a key at a maximum number of sites, and your filter depends on the one you use.
The library lives on a public site that needs looking after
- Not for local sites. The hub must be on a public site, which can be a subdomain or its own domain.
- Permalinks. It does not work with the Plain structure.
- Your patterns get indexed. Items are indexable by default, and screenshots depend on that. If you do not want them on Google, exclude them with an SEO plugin or a code snippet.
- For Kadence Blocks only. The connecting site needs Kadence Blocks installed.
- Connection errors. The No Connection Data error can come from a mistyped value, a firewall, a security plugin, CORS not enabled, an expired SSL certificate or an IP allowlist.
Creating the first pattern and connecting a site
- Install the plugin on a public site, with a permalink structure other than Plain.
- Create an item from the Pattern Hub menu and assign its collection, category and keywords.
- In Settings, set the library name and the resync frequency.
- Generate a key under Access Keys and choose its collections.
- On the other site, with Kadence Blocks, open the Design Library, click the + icon and enter the Connection URL and the key.
The pieces around your library
Pattern Hub distributes patterns, and what you can build inside them depends on your blocks. Kadence Blocks Pro is the block collection from the same maker, and Kadence Pro belongs to the Kadence theme.
If you work with another block set, GenerateBlocks Pro is another collection for the editor.
Notes for your first library
Can I set it up on my computer?
Not for connecting other sites: a local site cannot be reached from outside.
Do I need API Flash?
Only to generate thumbnails automatically. A featured image uploaded by hand does the same job.
How do I remove a library from a site?
In the Design Library, the + icon shows the connected libraries. The trash icon removes the one you choose.
Can I sell a single collection?
Yes, with a compatible key manager and a PHP filter that limits the query to that collection.
