About Newsletter PostMark Delivery Addon

When the newsletter leaves your hosting and never arrives

Sending newsletters from your website's server usually ends the same way: emails landing in spam, sending capped or cut off by the hosting, and bounces nobody handles. The problem is not your content, it is that bulk email goes out through a route designed for single messages. Newsletter PostMark Delivery Addon changes that route: delivery is handled by PostMark, a mail delivery service.

Connecting Newsletter to PostMark: token, sender and test

The connection uses an API Token you get from the PostMark console, under Servers, your server, API Tokens. You paste it into the add-on settings, save and run a test. When you sign up on PostMark for the first time, it creates a server for you and guides you to validate a sender email address and/or a domain. That step is theirs and it is worth doing properly first.

While your PostMark account is still in test mode, you can only send test emails to addresses on the same domain as the validated ones. Don't expect to send to your real list until the account is approved.

Bounces, complaints and unsubscriptions without touching anything

The add-on automatically configures PostMark to notify your site when it detects a bounce, a complaint or an unsubscription. You don't have to set anything up: the notification (webhook) appears in the PostMark console, in your server's Broadcast Stream, with a URL from your website.

  • If you suspect the notifications are not arriving, you can open the webhook and use its test button.
  • Don't change the webhook configuration, just test it.
  • If the test returns a 403 error, most likely your hosting or a security plugin is blocking PostMark's call.

Turbo send, limits and questions before deciding

The Turbo send option allows concurrent sending for more speed: you choose between 2 and 10 sending processes, and the improvement can reach up to 10 times. On a limited shared hosting it may not work, so test it before leaving it enabled. The maximum emails per hour you set in Newsletter's main settings is always respected; don't set it higher than your delivery service account allows.

What this add-on is not: it does not replace the Newsletter plugin, which you need installed, and it does not give you a PostMark account. Nor does it fix domain authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) on its own, which is set up separately.

Do I need my own PostMark account?

Yes. The add-on only connects your site to PostMark using your server's API Token.

Can I send from any address?

No: PostMark requires you to validate a sender address and/or a domain, and you must follow its instructions.

Do I have to set up bounce handling manually?

No, the add-on sets up the notification for bounces, complaints and unsubscriptions. Just check that your site does not block the URL.

Does Turbo send work on any hosting?

Not always. On limited shared hostings it may fail, so run a test before enabling it.
