About North – One Page Parallax WordPress Theme

You add a section and the menu cannot see it

Your single-page site works fine until the day you need a new block, your rates for example. You place it between two sections and fill it in, but nothing leads to it. On a one-page site the menu does not point to pages: it points to rows. If a row has no name of its own, the navigation counts it as part of the previous one.

North is a one-page parallax WordPress theme aimed at agencies and creative studios and built on Bootstrap. All of its logic runs through that idea: your site's structure lives in the row IDs.

How each section gets its name in North

The front page is built as a normal page with the Homepage (One Pager) template and the WPBakery editor. After that it works like this:

  • One unique ID per section. It goes in each row's settings, and the first row takes the ID first.
  • Rows without an ID are grouped. They join the nearest preceding row that has one, so the navigation treats them as a single section. This lets you split a long block into several rows.
  • The menu links to those IDs. In Appearance, Menus, each custom link combines the front page address with the row ID, and the menu is assigned to Primary Navigation.

Changing an ID also means changing its menu link, so it pays to settle the names at the start.

Twelve front pages and a lot of content to fill

The demo content brings 12 example front pages, with light, dark and night versions. The first one runs through slider, introduction, services, counters, portfolio, team, client testimonials, pricing tables and contact.

Choose by the sections you can fill with real material. The demo counters include coffee cups and pizzas ordered: you can delete that decoration without losing anything.

The package adds these pieces:

  • WPBakery with Templatera and Ultimate VC Addons, plus Revolution Slider and Layer Slider.
  • Filterable Isotope portfolio. Categories form the filter menu, and each project can open inside the grid or on its own page.
  • Blog at full width or with a sidebar.
  • WooCommerce and WPML among its compatibilities.
  • Video backgrounds from each row's settings.
  • Theme Options and Customizer, with a backup of your settings.
  • Google Fonts, Font Awesome, shortcodes and smooth scrolling.

Where its row system ties you down

It is bound to WPBakery. Sections, the ID-based menu and the portfolio are built with that page builder, and North is not optimized for Gutenberg. Anyone editing with blocks or Elementor would have to change how they work.

North Core is not optional. It is a plugin made for this theme and it provides the shortcodes, metaboxes and custom content types.

The demo does not arrive complete. Some of the live preview photos are not included, so a few gaps will wait for your own images.

North and the plugins it asks for

The theme asks for North Core, WPBakery Page Builder, Templatera, Contact Form 7 and Revolution Slider. After activation, a notice appears to install them.

  1. Upload North.zip from Appearance, Themes, and activate it.
  2. Install the plugins from the Install Plugins notice.
  3. To start from the demo, go to Tools, Import, choose WordPress and load site-demo-content.xml. It includes pages, posts, projects and menus.
  4. Write down your section IDs, review the front page rows and adjust the menu links.
  5. Add your projects with a featured image and categories, so the filters have content.

North against other formats in the catalog

For single-page sites, the catalog has Naila, Modak and, focused on the portfolio, Lean and Grandex.

For an agency working with Elementor that prefers several pages, Agencium brings twenty-four ready-built pages and a portfolio in three layouts. If you stay with WPBakery and your work is visual, Milano includes that builder and Revolution Slider.

North, question by question

Why does a new row not appear in the menu?

Because the menu needs a link to its ID. Give it a unique one in the row settings and add the link in Appearance, Menus.

Does it only work for one page?

The front page is a single page, and the demo adds portfolio, project, blog and shop pages to its menu.

Can I sell with North?

Yes, it is compatible with WooCommerce.

Does it work in several languages?

WPML is among its compatibilities. On a single-page site, test the ID-based menu in each language before publishing.
