About Potisen – Election & Political WordPress Theme

The count closes the campaign, but your site stays online

For months, every page pushes toward a single date: vote, donate, share. Then the count arrives, win or lose, and the site keeps telling visitors the same thing. A Vote on Sunday button next to a date that has passed makes everything else look abandoned.

A candidacy ends on voting day; the relationship with those who backed you does not have to. If you want to keep those contacts, followers and donors, you need a place to welcome them, and a site built only for the election date does not have one.

Potisen, by gavias, is a WordPress theme for politicians, parties, candidates, grassroots initiatives and social movements. It can also be used for a nonprofit organization, so you can consider moving from campaign to movement or foundation without changing themes.

The campaign tools in Potisen

  • Four home page styles: with one-click demo import.
  • Elementor: comes with the theme for editing pages.
  • Revolution Slider: included as a slider plugin.
  • Integrations: Give for donations and fundraising, Contact Form 7 for forms and MailChimp for WP for email lists.
  • Shop: setup for WooCommerce and its products.
  • Portfolio: with filter and carousel, useful for showing events or projects.
  • Multilingual: compatible with WPML.
  • Appearance: customizable colors and Google Fonts or standard fonts, from a Redux-based panel.
  • Child theme: compatible, to keep your changes separate.

Prepare the day-after site starting now

This sequence is our own suggestion, not a theme feature. Review it with your team and test it before the date:

  1. Before the vote: draft the thank-you page and the home page you will use afterward.
  2. During the campaign: invite people to subscribe through MailChimp for WP, to keep a channel of your own when it ends.
  3. After the count: publish the result, remove the calls to vote and change the home page.
  4. In the following weeks: turn the proposal pages into commitment tracking or the movement agenda.
  5. If you continue as an organization: redirect donations and forms toward the new cause.

What Potisen leaves outside the campaign

Its features do not include volunteer management or voter rolls. A form can collect sign-ups, but organizing those people requires another tool.

Donations arrive through the integration with Give, a third-party plugin, and that part is set up in the plugin.

It is not optimized for Gutenberg. You work with Elementor, which is worth keeping in mind if your team publishes from the block editor.

And the home page does not change by itself after the vote: someone has to do it, so leave that person assigned.

Getting Potisen running

Potisen includes Elementor and Revolution Slider, and comes with full documentation. Install Give, Contact Form 7, MailChimp for WP or WooCommerce only if you will use them.

  1. Install the theme and activate a child theme.
  2. Import the demo for the home page you prefer.
  3. Apply the colors and fonts of the candidacy.
  4. Replace the sample text and write your proposals.
  5. Test the form, the subscription and, if you use them, a donation and a purchase.

Partin, TheGov and Fundrize as a contrast

On the same ground, Partin is a theme for political campaigns and parties. If what you must present is an institution already elected, TheGov is made for municipalities. And if the site will live mainly on fundraising, Fundrize revolves around campaign cards with progress, a goal and a donate button.

Donations, languages and the campaign shop

Is it only for candidates?

No. It is also meant for parties, social movements and grassroots initiatives, and it can be used by nonprofit organizations.

Can I receive donations?

Yes, through its integration with Give, a donation and fundraising plugin.

How many home pages does it include?

Four home page styles.

Does it work for a campaign in two languages?

It is compatible with WPML, which is the route to a multilingual site.

Can I sell campaign merchandise?

Yes, it comes with setup for a WooCommerce shop.

Which site change should I plan first?

The home page for after the count, because it is the first thing returning visitors will see.
