About RepairPlugin Pro
The customer's two questions are how much and when, and they have to be answered together
It is what this plugin does and it explains why it converts so much better than a contact form.
Whoever has a phone with a cracked screen wants to know two things: how much it costs and when they can bring it in. If you answer only the first, they have to call you for the second. If you answer only the second, they book without knowing the price and half the time they do not turn up.
RepairPlugin joins the two into a single journey: the customer searches or selects their device, chooses the fault, sees the price and takes the slot. With no call, no waiting and no need for you to be sitting by the phone.
What it does
- A device selector, by searching or browsing brand and model.
- Fault selection, with its associated price.
- The appointment in the same step, without changing page.
- A journey optimised to convert, which is its whole purpose.
Why the selector is the key piece
It looks like an interface detail and it is what makes the whole model work.
The customer cannot describe their fault in the workshop's vocabulary. They do not write "screen module replacement with frame": they write "I dropped it and nothing shows". A free-text form collects that and forces you to call and translate it, and there half an hour goes and sometimes the sale.
The selector does the translation for you. Choose brand, choose model, choose symptom, and the job is identified precisely enough to give a price and reserve the right amount of time in the diary. The customer does the administrative work without noticing, because for them picking their phone from a list is easier than describing a problem.
The device catalogue is the work behind it
Worth knowing before buying, because it is the part that costs and appears in no description.
For this to work the models and prices have to be entered. And there are not ten of them: across phones, tablets and laptops from recent years there are hundreds of combinations, each with its own screen and battery price.
The sensible way to start is not loading the whole catalogue. It is starting with the twenty models that genuinely come into your workshop, which are almost always eighty per cent of the work, and adding the rest as they appear. And leaving an open "my device is not listed" route to a form, because one always is missing.
The other continuous work is keeping the prices current. An out-of-date price is worse than none: it generates an appointment with an expectation you will have to break at the counter.
What it does not cover
This is the front door: price and appointment. Managing what happens inside is another matter and comes separately: the device intake record, the repair status, notifying the customer it is ready, tracking ordered parts and uncollected devices.
For a small workshop a spreadsheet handles that perfectly well. Once twenty devices a week come in, a genuine workshop system starts being needed, and that is a different product category.
Requirements
It needs WordPress. Time has to be spent loading the devices and prices, which is the real work of getting started.
Alternatives in the catalogue
On the design side, the natural companion is Electro Repair, a theme built for electronics workshops. If your workshop handles cars, Car Repair, and if it handles heating and cooling, AirTech.
If your service runs by person and hour rather than by device (salon, consultation, class), a general diary fits better: Amelia, BookingPress or Simply Schedule Appointments.
If what you need is a quote with several variables rather than a fixed price per fault, Cost Calculator Builder and Stylish Cost Calculator do that part.
And if you also sell devices or accessories, the shop is another piece: Machic is built on WooCommerce for electronics.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly does it do?
Lets the customer choose device and fault, see the price and book an appointment in one journey.
Do the models come preloaded?
The devices and prices have to be entered. It is the real work of getting started.
Where do I start?
With the twenty models that come into your workshop most. They are usually eighty per cent of the work.
And if the customer's device is missing?
Worth leaving a route to a free-text form, because one always is.
Does it manage repair status?
No. It is the front door: price and appointment. Internal management is another category.
Is it suitable for services not based on devices?
It does not fit well. For appointments by person and hour, general diaries work better.
