About Subscriptions for WooCommerce

Subscriptions for WooCommerce: when every signup lands on a different day

Selling a box, a service or a replenishment product every month sounds simple until subscribers pile up: payments scattered across the calendar, shipments you cannot batch, customers writing in to pause or change their address, and renewals nobody remembers to check.

In a subscription business revenue is not lost on the day of the sale but on the day of the renewal: a payment that does not go through, a customer who cannot find how to pause and ends up cancelling. This plugin focuses right there: renewals aligned to one date, discounts that apply themselves and an account area where subscribers manage their own plans without writing to you.

A monthly coffee box, from the product page to the third renewal

Imagine a store that sells a coffee box every month. This is how you walk through the plugin, limits included:

  • You create the product. It can be a simple or a variable subscription. With the variable type, a single product offers several price, interval and duration options (for example monthly or every two months) and the customer chooses. Periods are daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, every 2, 3 and up to 6 intervals, and you can set an expiry date.
  • You attract with a trial and a signup fee. The free trial can last days, weeks, months or years. The signup fee is a one-time charge added to the subscription price. If you combine both, think carefully about what the customer sees in the cart.
  • You align all renewals. With synchronization, every subscriber renews on the same day of the week or month, regardless of when they bought. If you enable prorating, the first charge depends on the days left until that first synchronized renewal. It is worth explaining this on the product page: someone paying for part of a period should know why.
  • You reward staying. There are coupons designed for renewals, fixed amount or percentage, applied automatically on each cycle tied to the original order.
  • You charge on a recurring basis. Payments are automated through compatible gateways, PayPal among them. The plugin does not replace the gateway: if you use another one, check in the demo that it supports recurring payments before building anything.
  • The customer manages themselves. From My Account they can view details, suspend or cancel, and change the shipping address. The plugin handles the subscription and the payment; packing and shipping the box is still your job.

The result is a predictable payment calendar, which helps you plan product purchasing and shipments.

Common questions before adding subscriptions to your store

Can I offer several frequencies in a single product?

Yes, with variable subscriptions: one product with different price, interval and duration options for the customer to choose from.

Are emails sent about what happens?

Yes. Automatic emails go to customers and to the store about upcoming renewals, expirations, cancellations, suspensions, holds and completions.

Does it work in other languages?

It includes translations into German, Spanish, French, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Swedish and Russian, and it is compatible with the main translation plugins.

Can customers cancel without contacting me?

Yes, they can cancel or suspend from their account. If your model depends on retention, think about how you will communicate that step before opening the store.

The subscriptions dashboard: what you do when a renewal gets stuck

All the subscriptions in the store appear in a dedicated dashboard. You can create a new one by hand, cancel it, mark it as pending cancellation, suspend it, put it on hold or set it to expired.

If something fails, you can also resend order notifications, create pending renewal orders and process the recurring payment manually. That rescue route is useful when a payment does not go through the first time and you do not want to lose the subscriber.
