About Tickera - Events Listing
A calendar without filters loses tickets before checkout
People who run events often assume the sale is decided on the purchase page. But there is a step that gets neglected before it: visitors arrive with a vague idea (something for Saturday, a workshop, a concert) and have to find their event among many. If all they see is a wall of cards, they leave without opening a single one.
Tickera - Events Listing is a Tickera add-on that targets exactly that stretch: it displays your events in a Gutenberg block or with a shortcode, and lets visitors filter them by category, by date or by both.
What Tickera - Events Listing filters and where its job ends
Each listing is configured separately with these options:
- Category filter: groups concerts, workshops, film nights or private parties using the taxonomy you have set up. One click and the list narrows.
- Date filter: a calendar picker for a single day or a range, for example June 1 to August 31.
- Columns: fewer for a sidebar, more for a landing page.
- Past events: by default only future events appear. Turn them on if you want an archive view.
- Default image and excerpt: shown or hidden depending on what you want each listing to reveal.
- Number of events: a cap so the list does not run on endlessly.
Now, what you should be clear about: it is an add-on, it does not work alone, it needs Tickera installed and it only lists events created with Tickera. It does not sell tickets either: the visitor clicks a card and the purchase is handled by the event page you already have in Tickera. And the filters it includes are category and date; do not expect a text search or other criteria that are not on that list.
Frequently asked questions about the block and the shortcode
Do I have to choose between block and shortcode?
No. The block lives in the Gutenberg editor and the shortcode works wherever shortcodes work: classic editor, template files, widgets or page builders. The options are the same in both.
Can I have several listings with different settings?
Yes. Options are set on each embed, so one page can show three columns with filters while a sidebar shows a short list without them.
Can the filters be hidden?
Yes. The filters, the excerpt and the default image can each be shown or hidden per listing.
Does it work without Tickera?
No. It is an extension of Tickera and reads its events.
The block is configured with a preview right in the editor
Setup is short: open a page or post, add the Events Listing block from the inserter and adjust columns, filters, past events, excerpt, image and number of events in the sidebar. Changes show in the editor preview, so you decide how it looks before publishing.
If you prefer the shortcode, every option has its own parameter. Before publishing, check that your events have a category assigned: without them, the category filter has nothing to group by. And make sure each card leads to a complete Tickera event page, because that is where the purchase is completed.
