When the prize is real, someone will try to vote for themselves
Setting up a photo contest or an open vote sounds easy until one participant votes twenty times from the same phone and another accuses you of favoritism. Whoever installs TotalPoll Pro is usually in that business: generating participation with votes and making the result believable. The poll is the easy part. The hard part is proving afterwards that the result is clean.
That is why the most useful thing about the plugin is not the voting form but the log: every vote is recorded with its status, IP, browser and time, so you can trace cheating attempts instead of relying on a hunch.
Choices with text, photo, video or audio in TotalPoll Pro
Answers are not limited to text. Each choice can be text, an image, video, audio, a shortcode or HTML, which opens up different formats depending on what you want to build:
- A simple poll with text answers, a two-option debate, or a dilemma between two unappealing alternatives.
- A contest of photos, videos (YouTube, Vimeo or hosted on your own site) or audio tracks.
- Designs inspired by Twitter or Facebook polls, for those who want voting to feel familiar.
Since choices accept HTML, you can place a link inside an answer. It is a practical detail if the vote is part of an affiliate strategy or points to specific pages.
Extra fields, vote limits and statistics by date
A poll without context says little. You can ask voters for additional data with text, text area, checkbox or dropdown fields, with their own CSS classes and validations such as email or required field. If you collect personal data, mention it in your privacy policy.
- Vote limits: you define the conditions under which a visitor can vote or see the results.
- Statistics: tracking of votes by day, week and month, and even of custom field values alongside the vote.
- Messages: welcome and thank-you messages, among other customization settings.

schema.org structured data helps search engines understand the polls better. It works with WPML, Polylang, ACF, WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache and Varnish. If you are coming from WP-Polls or YOP Poll, you can migrate your polls.
Do you need a voting system or is a form with one question enough?
If you only want to know what your audience thinks once, a regular form is enough. TotalPoll Pro pays off when you run contests, need repeatable votes under rules, publish results or need to audit what happened. It is not a general form builder either: its extra fields are meant to accompany a vote, not to build a contact or order form. The additional templates and extensions from its creators are a separate add-on, so do not assume that every design in the demos comes with the base plugin.

Can I see who voted and when?
