About WPC Order Tip for WooCommerce
Adding a tip or a donation to the cart often ends up as a hand-made "Tip" product, a text field nobody understands or a follow-up email asking for extra. If you sell food with delivery, run local deliveries or have a store that supports a cause, that gesture should cost the customer one click, not an explanation.
When the customer has already decided to buy, they are most open to giving a little more
Whoever reaches the cart has already made the hard decision. Asking for a tip or a donation fits right there, before paying, and doesn't interrupt the purchase. WPC Order Tip for WooCommerce places those options on the cart page, with clean-looking buttons that add the amount to the order subtotal.
Walkthrough: from setup to the cart
Imagine a food store with delivery that also wants to raise money for an animal shelter. Here is how it works step by step:
- Step one, create the set: you define a set with a name and description, for example "Tip for the delivery person". You can create as many sets as you need.
- Step two, set the values: each value can be a fixed amount or a percentage of the subtotal. Each option accepts its own label, so the button says what you want.
- Step three, give the customer freedom: you enable the "Other" option (custom amount). You set the minimum, maximum, step and default value, so customers type their own figure without going beyond what you allow. Clicking it opens a field and the customer confirms with Add.
- Step four, order your priorities: you drag the sets to decide which appears first. If you have an active campaign, you move it to the top.
- Step five, the customer decides: they pick an option and the amount is added to the subtotal automatically, or they click "No, thanks" and carry on.
One limit to be clear about: the options are shown on the cart page. It is not a system for managing funds or for splitting what is collected among beneficiaries; that is outside the plugin and you handle it through your own accounting.
Tips and donations are not the same thing for the customer
A tip rewards a service and feels personal. A donation appeals to a different motivation: feeling that the purchase helps someone. Since you can show several sets at once, each with its own name and description, the customer can tell one from the other. It pays to describe each set well and not mix recipients in a single one.
What the paid version asks for taxes and roles
Two settings are in the premium version: defining whether the tip is taxable and assigning user roles to each tip. If you need the tip to be taxed in a specific way or only certain customers (for example, wholesalers) to see it, take this into account before deciding. If you collect for an organization, ask your adviser how to treat that amount in your case.
