About wpDiscuz WordPress Plugin

For blogs whose readers reach the end and leave without saying anything

A long article gets read in full and then nobody comments: the comment box sits at the very bottom, and the reader who wanted to qualify a paragraph in the middle no longer remembers which one it was. wpDiscuz extends the native WordPress comments to bring the conversation closer to the text.

It suits anyone publishing content built on opinion or debate (blogs, analysis, small publications) who wants more participation without leaving WordPress comments. It is not for you if you want an external comment service: this plugin works on top of WordPress comments and stores the data in your own database. Nor is it for you if you only want a basic comment box: it has many options to configure. And it does not replace moderation: more participation means more comments to review.

Questions inside the article and a bubble that notifies

The most distinctive feature of wpDiscuz is inline commenting. From the article editor you add a question to any paragraph, and the reader sees a small icon next to that passage. They can answer while reading, without scrolling down to the usual form. It works for asking for opinions exactly where you care, not at the end.

The Comment Bubble is a sticky icon that updates in real time: it invites people to comment, shows current comment information and tells people on that page when a new one arrives.

Rating an article without having to comment on it

There are two ways to score content. The first is a stand-alone rating under the article: the reader scores and leaves, without writing anything. The second is a rating field inside the comment form, to score while commenting.

  • Stand-alone rating: useful when most people read and few write.
  • Field in the form: fits when you want a reasoned opinion next to the score.

Comments also support likes and votes with different icons.

With wpDiscuz you know who comments and can cut the noise

The statistics dashboard shows charts for regular and inline comments, with a choice of period and comment type. It also lists the most active users and subscriptions in tables you can sort by posted comments, subscriptions or followers. That way you spot the people who hold your community together.

For spam it includes its own protection, Google reCAPTCHA and integration with antispam plugins. Readers can subscribe to posts and comments, follow other users and mention them. The editor supports media content and social login offers Facebook, Twitter, Google, Disqus, WordPress.com, VK and OK. It includes privacy and cookie tools and options, but legal compliance remains your responsibility.

Three layouts, other languages and data that stays on your site

There are three ready-to-use layouts, and with the form builder you can assign a different one to each page or content type. It is responsive on mobile and desktop, and a template API lets you customize almost everything in a way that survives updates. Phrases can be translated and it works on multilingual sites. Comments are posted with AJAX and updated in real time through the REST API. Its structure is designed so search engines can index the content. If you need more, extensions exist.
