About AutomatorWP - Easy Digital Downloads

You want every purchase of a digital product to trigger something: grant access, notify someone or register a valuable customer. Before choosing the integration it helps to know which side of the recipe it works on.
AutomatorWP Easy Digital Downloads provides triggers and filters, but no actions on Easy Digital Downloads, so whatever happens next is supplied by other integrations.
It is an AutomatorWP add-on that connects your downloads store with its recipes. A trigger waits for something in the store, a filter decides whether the recipe continues, and the actions come from another integration: sending an email or adding a role already come with the WordPress integration included in AutomatorWP, and other add-ons provide more.
The seven triggers and the three filters
- Viewing a download: fires when a user views a download's page.
- Purchasing a download: when a user buys a specific download.
- Purchasing a download of a category or a tag: two triggers that serve groups of products.
- Vendor sale: a vendor gets a sale of a download.
- Completing a purchase with a total: greater than, less than or equal to an amount you choose.
- Customer lifetime value: equal to, less than or greater than a value.
The three filters narrow the recipe: the user has purchased a download, has not purchased it, and their lifetime value is equal to, less than or greater than a value.
A use case: recognizing your biggest customer
One possible combination: you use the customer lifetime value trigger and add, with the AutomatorWP WordPress integration, the action that adds a featured customer role. With the filter of having purchased a specific download, the recipe can be limited to those who already own a basic product. Take it as a starting point and adapt it to your store.
No actions of its own, and what it pairs with
Among its features there are no actions: anything you want to do with an order or a download does not come from this integration. You need Easy Digital Downloads and AutomatorWP active. The actions come from another integration: the WordPress one is included in AutomatorWP.
Five of the seven triggers and all three filters are Pro level, so check in the recipe editor which ones you can choose.

- Install and activate AutomatorWP and this add-on on the store with Easy Digital Downloads.
- If the action you want is not in AutomatorWP, install the add-on that provides it.
- Open AutomatorWP and create a new recipe.
- Choose an Easy Digital Downloads trigger and add the filters you need.
- Add the action and activate the recipe.
