About MemberPress Elementor Addon

A full-page wall hides what the page was selling

You protect a whole guide and anyone who is not a member sees a notice and nothing else. They do not know what it covers, what it includes or whether it would help them. Leave it open and you give the content away. Close it and you run out of arguments in front of the very person you wanted to convince.

What persuades someone to pay is usually on the same page as what you ask them to pay for. The way out is to split that page: one part for everyone and another for members, at the same address.

MemberPress Elementor Content Protection brings MemberPress rules to Elementor. Each section or container can have its own rule, so visitors see the preview and members see the full page. It is an add-on: it needs MemberPress and Elementor active on the site.

How it decides who sees each block

  • Partial rule: created in MemberPress with the Partial type, meant for protecting parts of a page or post.
  • Conditions: memberships, specific members, user roles or capabilities, with no limit on conditions.
  • MemberPress tab: appears in Elementor beside the usual tabs, in the settings of each section or container.
  • Containers: protection works with Flexbox containers, including containers inside others.

Three answers for visitors without access

The Unauthorized Content setting decides what happens on each protected block, and there you choose what people without access see.

  • Default: shows the default unauthorized message, which can include the login page. It suits cases where the visitor may be a member who has not logged in.
  • Display Message: shows your own message, written in the Custom Message field. This is the place for an upgrade invitation.
  • Hide: hides the block from those without access.

Combined, a landing page can show everyone a preview section, keep the full content for those who pay and display an upgrade notice where the rule blocks the way.

Element Caching and the other rules of the game

Turn off Element Caching. This Elementor feature creates issues with partial rules and dripping settings. It is switched off under Elementor, Settings, Features, Element Caching. Do it before you start testing.

One rule per section. Each section accepts a single rule, so cases with several audiences are solved inside the rule, with its conditions.

Conditions add audience. Meeting one is enough for access, so adding conditions widens who gets in.

Protection works by blocks. The tab appears only on sections and containers. To reserve a single piece, place it in its own container.

Billing, memberships and the rules themselves stay in MemberPress. This add-on supplies the connection with the Elementor editor.

Create the rule and protect the first section

With MemberPress and Elementor active, install the add-on. It should appear under Plugins as MemberPress Elementor Content Protection.

  1. If you will use containers, enable them under Elementor, Settings, Features.
  2. Go to MemberPress, Rules, Add New, choose Partial and add the access conditions.
  3. Open the page with Edit with Elementor.
  4. Select the section or container and open it for editing with the six-dot icon.
  5. In the MemberPress tab, choose the rule under MemberPress Rule.
  6. Pick the Unauthorized Content option and click Update.
  7. Check the page while logged out and with a test account for each membership.

Pieces that complete or replace this split

MemberPress Pro is the base: access rules, dripping and subscriptions with automatic billing. MemberPress MailChimp carries each member's status to Mailchimp, useful for writing to those who are no longer active.

If you do not use MemberPress, SureMembers restricts content at different levels and hides fragments within the text with a shortcode.

Parts, memberships and the MemberPress tab

Can I protect only part of a page?

Yes. That is its job: the rule applies to a specific section or container, and the rest stays visible.

Does it work for different memberships on the same page?

Yes. Each section can carry a different rule, with the conditions you need.

Why can't I see the MemberPress tab?

Check that the add-on is active and that you are editing a section or a container, because it does not appear on other elements.

A member sees what they should not, where do I start?

Check whether Element Caching is still on and what conditions the rule has, since meeting just one grants access.
