About Sunway – Hotel Booking WordPress Theme
The free night trapped between two bookings
One booking comes in from Monday to Thursday and another from Friday to Sunday. Thursday night stays free, and if the minimum stay is two nights, nobody can book it on the website. That room stays empty and that night never sells again.
Every night at a property expires by morning, and every booking rule decides which ones go unsold. A minimum stay can also leave gaps, so it is worth configuring it with the real calendar in view.
Sunway by freevision is a WordPress theme for hotels, vacation rentals, guest houses and B&Bs, built on the MotoPress Hotel Booking plugin.
What Sunway lets you sell and charge for
- Unlimited accommodations, with automatic generation for hotels with many rooms of the same type.
- Rates by season or date, based on what the stay includes, such as with or without breakfast.
- Pricing by number of guests and weekly, monthly or custom rates based on length of stay.
- Services and packages, free or paid, plus discount coupons.
- Mandatory fees and taxes, with the summary of charges visible before booking.
Bookings are confirmed automatically or manually, with or without a payment. Payment supports PayPal, 2Checkout, Stripe and Beanstream/Bambora, and you can ask for the full amount, a deposit or payment on arrival.
Pending bookings that nobody confirms move to the Abandoned status, and all requests appear with their status in a single view.
iCal synchronization keeps bookings up to date with platforms such as Airbnb and Booking.com. WPML is supported, and the plugin is translated into 14 languages.
How to stop stay rules from leaving stray nights
Minimum and maximum stay and the days available for check-in and check-out are set for the entire establishment, by accommodation or by season, and you can also define how many days in advance a booking is allowed. Two checks are worth making before turning them on.
Test the rules against last year's calendar. If a three-night minimum would have left many gaps of one or two nights, the rule costs more than it protects.
Use length of stay as a price before using it as a ban. Weekly and monthly rates reward long stays without turning away someone who only wants two nights.
Photos, Gutenberg and iCal: what to plan for with Sunway
- The demo images and videos are not in the package: you need your own photos.
- It is not optimized for Gutenberg. Its declared compatibility points to WPBakery Page Builder.
- iCal exchanges calendars periodically, not instantly, so two bookings for the same dates can coincide in that interval.
- Its features do not include automatic filling of stray nights: that decision stays manual.
Installing Sunway and opening the first bookings
It is listed as compatible with WordPress from the 5.1 series to 6.9. It includes WPBakery Page Builder, Slider Revolution, the Hotel Booking plugin, a child theme, dummy data and a step-by-step install guide.
- Install the theme and load the dummy data.
- Create your accommodations and their attributes, and replace the photos.
- Define seasons, rates and stay rules, and check them with real dates.
- Choose the confirmation mode and set up the payment gateway.
- Connect the iCal calendars and make a complete test booking.
Other ways to build a property site from the catalog
If you already have a theme you like, MotoPress Hotel Booking is the same booking engine on its own. Booklium is MotoPress's own theme, also on that engine.
Other property themes are CozyStay and Romancy.
