About WooCommerce Gravity Forms Product Add-ons

When a variation is not enough to sell what the customer wants

A mug with an engraved name, a made-to-measure piece of furniture or a gift with a message do not fit the WooCommerce variations model: either you multiply the catalog with combinations that are impossible to maintain, or you end up asking for the details by email after the purchase. WooCommerce Gravity Forms Product Add-ons solves this by attaching a Gravity Forms form to the products that need it.

The mistake in selling customized products does not happen in the product, but in information that arrives wrong: an incomplete text, a missing file, an ambiguous measurement. Here the customer fills in everything before paying and that data travels with the order.

Forms with logic and pricing inside WooCommerce

With Gravity Forms fields you build the product configuration and connect it to any item in the store. What matters is what you can do with them:

  • Conditional logic: show or hide fields depending on what the customer chooses, and even make the submit button conditional.
  • Pricing fields: product, options (dropdown, checkboxes or buttons), quantity, shipping and total. The cart price is the WooCommerce product price plus whatever those fields add up to. If the form sets the whole price, leave the regular price at 0.
  • User-entered pricing and conditional pricing.
  • Standard and advanced fields: text, paragraph, number, date, time, address, phone, email, list and file upload, plus multi-page forms and required fields.

Each different configuration is a unique line in the cart; if the customer repeats exactly the same one, the quantity goes up instead of creating a duplicate.

What the customer sees and what you receive

You decide how the price is shown in the store: the default WooCommerce one or, on a configurable product, something like "As low as $1000". You also control whether the automatic price calculation appears and edit each label separately.

The selections appear in the cart, at checkout, on the order, in the customer's account and in emails. You choose whether to show all fields, only some of them or a custom summary built with merge tags. A Gravity Forms entry linked to the order is also created. With cart editing enabled, the customer can reopen the product with their selections and change them.

One form can serve many products: you assign it by categories or tags and each product can override specific settings. You can also map fields to the item's weight, length, width, height and quantity so shipping rates use those values. It works with simple and variable products, the Cart and Checkout blocks, the classic checkout and HPOS, and with extensions such as WooCommerce Subscriptions, Bookings, Dynamic Pricing or Quick View Pro, and with Gravity Perks such as Populate Anything, Conditional Pricing, Limit Choices or Nested Forms.

Decide if it is worth it: requirements, limits and common questions

Be clear on the main point: it is an add-on, it does not work on its own. It needs Gravity Forms installed, and that plugin is bought separately. It also does not yet support post creation fields. And if your products only change in size and color, the standard WooCommerce variations are simpler.

Can I use the same form on many products?

Yes. You assign it to categories or tags from the form's WooCommerce settings, and each product can override specific sections.

How is the final price calculated?

It is the product price plus the total of the product and option fields. A $20 mug with $7 in options goes into the cart at $27.

Does it work with the Cart and Checkout blocks?

Yes, the form details show one per line in the blocks and in the classic cart and checkout.

Can the form set the weight or dimensions for shipping?

Yes, by mapping form fields to the item's weight, length, width, height and quantity.

Is it suitable if my catalog is highly customizable?

That is exactly its use case, as long as you are willing to design the forms in Gravity Forms. Check in the demo whether the configuration flow is comfortable for your customer on mobile.
